I'm only guessing at this but I think there was some kind of joke in this. The fresh tomatoes were referring to not fully ripened (green) tomatoes, and the "peruse" was referring to "read" a synonym for peruse and a homophone for "red", the word that would be used with a fully ripe tomatoe. As I said, only a guess.

Fresh vegetables may or may not have more food value than canned or frozen vegetables, depending on how close the processing plant is to the field.

I'm guessing that when you say "peruse" you mean either "preserved" or "pureed".

A better phrasing for your question:

Is it true that fresh tomatoes are more nourishing than canned/preserved tomatoes?

I believe Noddy's unscrambling the original post is superior to mine.

I believe that when I walkk into the garden in the early mornings, pick a ripe tomato off the vine and eat it with my morning tea; it is delcious. On the other hand, I have never fixed a cuppa tea and popped open a can of tomatos with the same relish.

Flyboy--

Thanks for the kind words.

I correspond with some people who have exceptionally cryptic handwriting. Further, I can get some sense from strange two-year-olds.
