Interesting new twist on the sniper story. Seems that the sniper was furious at his ex-wife for taking the kids away. Wife reports that many of the things that the sniper did was related to their relationship, and that she feared for her life.
Sniper's Wife's Story
I heard that -- makes one wonder if she isn't right about her being the target and he was trying to throw the police off by making her one of the serial killings. I doubt that was the pair's only motivation as they committed robbery during the spree.
Lightwizard- His wife might have been the target, at first, but the whole thing spiraled out of control. It's possible that his rage just got the best of him, and he took it out on ANY convenient target!
I would love to know the relationship between the sniper and the kid that was with him. I think that figuring that out will keep the shrinks busy for awhile!
The tabloids are having a field day, knowing there's nobody who will sue them in this case! They're claiming, among other things, that they are homosexual lovers -- very irresponsible as there is absolutely no proof of that and it could create the same atmosphere that Jerry Failwell (sic) did with his irresponsible and reprehensible comments on 9/11 and homosexuals and, not to leave it out, abortion among other things. It would seem to me to be more like that the younger one was the product of a Svengali complex. It's not fathomable that the elder converted to the Muslim religion and was homosexual or bisexual -- doesn't fit.
Of course, two of the hijackers/murderers of 9/11 went to a strip joint and one of the landladies they rented from intimated they were homosexual lovers! Pretty crazy stuff but it gets into what you had posted about group mentality and I identified as cults. I believe the 9/11 culprits were more politically motivated which shows how far the fundamentalism, and yes, traditionalism can go to extremes. There's good traditions and bad traditions and we're all creatures who can be resentful of change -- don't rock the boat, someone may fall out and it might be me!
Lightwizard- I wasn't thinking at all in terms of homosexuality. The sniper was very angry that his children were taken away from him. The boy may have related to the sniper as a surrogate son.
Exactly -- there's far more evidence pointing to that conclusion but tabloids have to sensationalize the already sensational. I'm sure there would have to be a psychological gliche in both their brains -- I don't believe anyone can commit murder without being drugged, drunk or crazy.
Sociopathy is crazy -- they're coming close to showing that it is a weak or missing gene that causes someone not to be born with a conscience. It simply isn't something that one's circumstance or environment brings about. Those conditions while they certainly can exacerbate the pathology are dependent on the person being sociopathic in the first place. There's a fantasy that sociopaths have no feelings -- but they do and it's for themselves. I doubt that they feel remorse for any of the victims and have trouble believing if he knew where is ex-wife lived, why he didn't go ahead with murdering her. You are right -- it will be written about for years just like other serial/spree killers and we still won't see an answer.
