That should read: "He paid me 20 bucks under the table." The word bucks, in this context, means dollars. "He paid me 20 dollars under the table." The expression "under the table" means unofficially--there was no record of the payment, and no taxes were paid on the money. "He paid me 20 dollars off the record, and did not keep any taxes."
