"JD dug deep into his box of toys to deliver a neat toe side roll but not before pulling off a brilliant 720 spin with huge air & great rotation."

can someone please tell me what is the meaning of but not before in this sentence?

what i don't understand is that the the spin comes after the roll.

It means that he didn't do it before the spin.

The toe side roll was NOT before the spin, therefore it must have been AFTER it.

"but NOT before"
