i still can't understand the complex idiom,now i meet a strange one,too.how to understand the senttence"my aunt is a pistol"?

That's hardly a complex idiom--it is simply an idiomatic usage. In the American language, "pistol" in such a context means someone who very funny, someone is amusing and entertaining. (I don't know if other English speakers use the expression, which is why i have said it is American.)

"My aunt is a pistol"--she can go off any minute.

Life is never dull when my aunt is around.
