the spaniard have it that a buxom widow must be either married,buried,or shut up in a convent?
how can i understand it ?
I don't believe the Spanish feel like this today.
At one point in the Western World, women--no matter what their age--were not thought capable of managing their own affairs.
Hence a good looking widow should remarry, enter a convent, or die.
There was no place for a single woman in the Spanish society of that time.
