what's the difference when someone tells you this

i am nice to you.

with this

i am being nice to you.

"I am nice to you" implies that it is something done all the time. "I am being nice to you" suggests just this one time.

I'd be suspicious of anyone who called my attention to how "nice" he were being to me. I would assume that he wanted something from me.
