Why do I feel nauseated if I fall asleep in a sitting position (upright) or fall asleep on my back in bed (watching tv) ? The nausea occurs after I doze off for a little while then wake up.As soon as i turn on my side I am ok. Some have suggested its ARD of some type but Im not sure. This is the only time I experience this ---no severe heartburn or indigestion of any type. It doesn't feel like any acid or stomach fluid in my asaphagus, just plain nausea. Anyone else? :

Ask your doctor. Choking on vomit can kill you -- and this can happen in your sleep. Sorry to be an alarmist but if it is bothering you, you should have it checked out. It may very well be GERD or the like and you may not be recognizing the symptoms, or the damage might not be significant enough for it to feel like a really big deal. But you want to get it treated before you have major damage.

The doctor might find nothing wrong. Or maybe he or she will. But you won't know unless you go.
