Imagine someone stretched paper over a hole in the ground. If you walked on the paper it would tear and you would fall through the paper into the hole.

Snow sometimes forms a hard crust like thin ice If you walk on deep snow with a thin crust you might fall through into the deeper snow.

Do you have snow in your part of China? I live in a part of Australia that has only a little snow

Hey do any Chinese posters ever come back after these answers?

Just wondering if that is the meaning of "fell through" they were after.

An alternative meaning is possible, for example: "I fell through going out wearing slippery shoes"

but that is not a very good example.

wearing slippery shoes"

who is wearng slippery shoes, your passage reads like "going out" is wearing slippery shoes
