It means an Arab - a native of the Arab countries - who is of the Sunni variant of the Islamic faith, within which faith there are 3 major sects - Shi'a (or Shi'ite), Sunni, and Wahabi, all professing the Qu'ran as their holy scripture, but differing in assorted respect concerning interpretation and/or application of the teachings of the Qu'ran. There is a long history of conflict between Sunni and Shi'a, going back to the 7th Century, arising largely out of dissention over the rightful successor to Momammed, the founder of Islam. Wahabi is a rather newer, more fundamentalist sect than the other 2, tracing back to somewhere around the 18th Century.

Thank timberlandko for this kind of background knowledge, comprehensive but concise. It makes me understand better beyond the surface meaning.
