What dose "little white lies " and "by and large "mean in the sentence
"We already have entered a golden age of little white lies about our cellphones ,and this is by and large a healthy, protective development"?

"little white lies" are supposedly small, harmless untruths.
By and large means overall.
What the sentence means however, I cannot fathom, unless you are able to provide a paragraph or something so I can see what it exactly relates too.
My guess is that quieting people's fears about cell phones by telling them harmless lies is good for business, since it encourages many to buy them.
