What does "have a lot to live up to" mean?Thank you!

It means that people have high expectations of someone.

"His father was a brilliant scientist, so he had a lot to live up to."

That means because the boy's father was a brilliant scientist, people expect the boy to also be brilliant. He has a lot to live up to, he has to prove that he is also brilliant.
