Hi:
In this sentence "Lucy, trapped by the blood tie, knew she would have to send Lily money to bring her home ", what is the meaning of 'trapped by the blood tie'?

Lucy would have to help Lily because Lily is a member of Lucy's family.

Poetically speaking, they share the same blood line.
