can you tell me how to make a clear difference between "check" and "examine",

check is used when someone is looking to see if there are any faults - there's an awareness that there may be faults to find

- checking the answer to sums, checking a garment on a factory production line etc

examine is merely looking closely, it could be looking hard and in detail at a beautiful painting or embroidery - it implies a close up look.


people tend to use the phrase 'check it out' in a more casual 'go and look at this it's interesting' sort of way as well
