what is the "dutch wife and dutch uncle" mean? thank you!
I've never heard of "Dutch wife." Dutch uncle means someone, a friend usually, who is a critic, and whose criticisms help one to improve.
"If you want to improve your understanding, listen to your Dutch uncle, Bob--he's tough, but he's fair."
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dutch wife may refer to:
a long body-length pillow
a prostitute
a sex doll
I knew that!
Ahem, that is to say, I read up on it. I have no personal knowledge of the subject myself...
Never mind.
