As we know ,english is very popular with Chinese. Many many people
want to study english, then they can have chance to go abroad and
improve themselves.what i want to know is :Does American people like
studying Chinese, and is it popular in America, how do you study it?
Unfortunately Chinese is not taught in most colleges and universities.
There is an interest in learning Chinese among Americans wanting to do business in China.
The greatest difficulty for Americans in learning Mandarin or Cantonese are the tones (inflections). When I studied Mandarin I was happy to discover "pinyin" (the spelling of Chinese words using the Western alphabet rather than traditional Chinese characters).
I'm sorry to hear that, but i believe that one day,Chinese must be very
popular with American people.
I read something recently, I think it was on a plane, that Chinese language studies are becoming very popular. There was one survey done in the US (asking people-college students I think-which language they'd most like to learn). Cantonese and Mandarin topped the list by long way.
Frank--
Remember for more than a hundred years China avoided contact with the Western World. Why would Westerners learn Chinese when no one wanted to say, "Hello"?
I'm a Chinese, and I'd like to say hello to all of u!
Hello, little crab. Nice to meet you.
it's long long ago ,now,China have developed very quickly.it becomes
stronger and willing to accept the foreign culture.
Frank--
In any culture, change comes slowly.

I don't think that chinese is real popular at the college level. What's really gaining in popularity in the USA, is ARABIC.
thank you for your ideas.
I want to learn Chinese. It is a very interesting country, especially since it is so old. I've lived in Canada all my life and we are a realitivly new country so our culture is not quite as unique as some of the older countries. (except for the inuit)
