You're both wrong (and the year is most likely '67). The flag is an obvious clue.

You know Slappy that '90 Plymouth Lazer 190Hp turbo was one bunch of car for $16000. Disc brakes all around and tested by various car magazines to 145 mph. I took mine to 120 and got scared of the Wyoming Highway Patrol and throttled back but cruised for most of the day in southern Texas once at over 100. At 100 mph that car had "pedal" meaning "lets go" acceleration if you punched it. Has there been anything like it before or since at such a price?

Past:

1978 Fairmont wagon, 200 I-6/4-speed MANUAL transmission, paid $75, sold to a friend, still running. Sold.

1979 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, paid $225, have completely rebuilt it, currently off the road after getting punted into a guardrail last October. Still own it.

1983 Jeep J-20 4x4 pickup, 360 AMC/4-speed manual, about 7MPG, 8' Western snowplow, it saw some pretty brutal treatment as a work truck, but it's still going. Sold.

1985 Dodge Shelby Charger Turbo: 175HP 2.2/5-speed, 15" wheels with low-profile tires, lots of fun, 29MPG, but small, loud, bouncy, & uncomfortable on long trips. Sold.

1987 Dodge Dakota: 2.2/5-speed, longbed 2WD pickup, bought for $50, rewired, & promptly had an uninsured 18 year old in a Hyundai total it. Scrapped. Sad

1976 Dodge D-200 extended-cab pickup: 400/automatic, paid $100 for it, replaced the front fenders & ball joints, sold it for $1300. Buyer fixed a burned valve & still has it.

1984 Ford Escort diesel: a zero-option (not even power steering) economy car, the 48MPG was nice, but I havte small cars. I paid $50, rebuilt the front end, drove it for 7 months, & sold it for $150 to a friend. He still has it, with over 300,000 miles.

1992 Ford F-350 4x4 diesel: 7.3 turbo diesel/5-speed, a zero-option (A/C & cruise, originally no radio, no carpet, vinyl seats) construction foreman's truck. I paid $4000 for it (including a snowplow) with 298,000 miles. It's since been hit twice (in the left front in a parking lot & in the right-rear hard enough to destroy the bed), & I replaced the destroyed bed with a Reading utility box.

1986 Chevy Caprice Classic Landau Sport Coupe (seriously): EFI 4.3 V6/3-speed automatic, free after sitting for a year in a guy's carport. I replaced the rear brake lines, trans cooler lines, & most recently the radiator ($40 at a junkyard). It rides smoothly & gets ~20MPG. I like it.

I bought my first car from my dad. It was a '63 Valiant with 3 on the tree. $150 Then a '65 Valiant...not as fast.

'63 Volkswagen bus with hippie painted motifs which I sold in 1971 for $600 to underwrite a year in Spain.

'63 Ford p/u 3/4 ton monster. You could sit in the engine well to do a tune up. I'm not a gear head so when I rebuilt the motor it blew up after 2,000 miles

'71 ? Buick Vista Cruiser station wagon with tinted glass everywhere. The massive front end saved my life one night in Indiana when a drunk hit me head on at 60 mph

'76 and '77 Ford and Chevy p.u.'s Hardy beasts

'83 Ford Aerostar van-Drove it through 40 states on a band tour...it conked out when I got home

Currently a '01 Toyota Takoma p.u., the best vehicle I've ever owned.

Those in bold I still have. Those in Italics I wish I never sold. As you can tell, I'm a sucker for low mileage classics. The only cars I've had since new are the 96 Impala SS and the 91 Beretta. All of the others are backyard gems, barn treasures, or Ebay lucky finds.

1966 Pontiac Bonneville
1973 AMC Hornet Sportabout wagon, 7000 original miles
1973 Chevy Impala 6P wagon 454/400, 59,000 original miles
1983 Chevy Celebrity
1985 Chevy El Camino Conquista
1987 Olds Cutlass Salon w/ 442 appearance package, 60,000 original miles
1987 BMW 325i Convertible, 156,000 miles and still flawless
1991 Chevy Beretta GT
1993 Toyota Tercel
1996 Chevy Impala SS, 74,000 miles
1997 Toyota Tercel

69 Ford Galaxie (Eloise) - what a tank! Even survived a detour into the Sawmill River.
75 Olds Omega (Ophelia) - ordered it down to the last detail, a real honey. Then a year later a bunch of drunk Chelsea punks in a Monte Carlo totaled it.
76 Buick Regal (Bathsheba) - drove it for 13 years
80 Dodge Omni (Ebeneezer) - a total crapcan.
89 Dodge Caravan (Sarah) - merging onto highways was always an adventure.
90 Ford Taurus (Ferdinand) - never buy a former lease car.
87 Cadillac Seville (Bertha) - inherited from my Dad. Like driving an aircraft carrier.
2000 Caravan (Ariel) - once a boring suburbanite, always a boring suburbanite.
2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser (Vito) - fun.

Just ordered a 2006 Mazda B2600 cab & chasis. truck. The componts are shipped from Japan and the vehicle is assembled in a plant in Bogota. Engine-wise it's the same vehicle sold in the US up to about 1993. It's 4x4 w/auto hubs and standard limited slip rear end. It'll go direct from the dealer to the "estacas" shop where they will install the stake bed on the chasis.

In the seventies and maybe even to today US pick-ups with four wheel drive had gross vehicle weight ratings lower than their two wheel drive equivalent. More breakable machinery under heavy loads I guess. These days Mazda at least has it right with the 4x4 version offering a longer chasis for a longer bed and about six hundred pounds higher weight capacity.

Ed Toner, I have a 1995 ES300 Lexus with less than 55,000 miles. Love the car; it still looks like new. Just washed and waxed it today. Never any problems with the car, but this is my third set of rubber. I like the fact that I have no fixed payments of any kind.

I'm dreaming about what my next car will be. If my wife agrees to sell our home within the next couple years, I can get that $52K MBZ sports. Always dreamed of that car (or something close to it).
