Education may stop any come back from any circle, it also may stop the discission being made under the pressure of work or from 3rd parties. I do believe it is still common in this modern world to dismiss employees due to the simple fact that they are having a baby, is this fair ?

Same in the UK and most of the west, but the small fines usually used to prevent it from happening do not deter companys. It happens all the time, everywhere.

Do you mean to say that if all the ladies who work for Walmark got pregnant in the same week there is no power under your legal system to fire them all.

The shareholders will have to hope that they stick to the agreed rota.

The lady who got the show on the road and has made a fortune out of it is Professor Ms Germaine Greer. An Australian.

She came in on an aeroplane way back when with an attention grabbing idea that "All men are rapists" and media jumped on the bandwagon because they know rape shifts kit and she has never looked back.

She has a big article in last weekend's Sunday Times with a nice photo of nearly half a page showing her in her younger days lying in the grass with two pieces of textile hiding her dirty bits.

She was a keen supporter of Mr Apisa's position or, to put it another way,
he is a keen supporter of hers.

Anyway- it's a long article and quite well written as one is entitled to expect from a professor at Oxford.

This is the last line;the conclusion so to speak.

Quote:
Girls in our time are in trouble; raunch is not the half of it.

But she's not in trouble. She's loaded and gets invited on to loads of chattering class programmes in order to get girls into even more trouble and to increase her already substantial wealth.

I'll quote her conclusion again in case fast readers missed it-

Quote:
Girls in our time are in trouble; raunch is not the half of it.

The real question is how do we rescue them. Some of us like them and don't just want to shag them self indulgently.

Can anyone imagine any woman with any real self-respect who would want to be "rescued" by the likes of Spendi...or his keep-'em-barefooted-and-pregnant crowd??????

Twisted Evil

You really do have a horrible opinion of women, Spendi!

That's exactly what Ms Greer said.

Which women do you mean. I certainly don't lump them all together in one stereotype as you need to do to make that fatuity up.

Suppose somebody criticised Hitler and then somebody then said that the critic had a horrible opinion of men to counter it.

What a silly thing it was you just said. The only function of it is to expose your intelligence level to view or to expose your estimation of the intelligence of readers here.

Most of the women I have ever known despise and detest Ms Greer and all her works and most of them have at least twenty pairs of shoes and a dressing room full of other kit and have been pregnant about twice.

Your smear, for that's all it is, displays a degree of desperation that concedes the case. It's a snort.

And they are too. I'll agree with her on that.

Get your head out of your ass, Spendi.

Ms. Greer did NOT say: "The real question is how do we rescue them."

You did.

And that was the bit of self-indulgent silliness to which I made reference.

Wake up. Sober up. Then read what I said again.

My guess is most of the women you have known have been desperate women. No telling what they would do.

If you want to despise Ms. Greer...do so. Stop trying to make it some kind of universal feeling...and stop trying to project your loathing of women on women.

That thought doesn't make enough sense to laugh at.

I'm afraid Frank that you are not a suitable person for me to discuss a serious subject like abortion with. You are far too prone to making up facile presumptions and then basing your arguments on them.I can easily do that if I wanted to stoop to such an infantile level of discourse.

It's quite common. I wouldn't worry about it but it's a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

You are more in your element with the status of the fetus as it is a topic which has no solution except to those who consider it to be life from the start and then it isn't even a topic.

Ignore my posts will you. They are not directed at you anyway.

Not on your life, Spendi.

I will read each and every post you offer...and will respond to as many as I see fitting.

As for creating strawmen...I think you just did, Spendi...

It was nowhere near as ugly as this-

Quote:
My guess is most of the women you have known have been desperate women. No telling what they would do.

The evidence for which is entirely confined to the activities within your own thought processes and has not the slightest thing to do with anyone else.

That sort of thing, which seems to be reflexive in your case, is what I had in mind when I said-

Quote:

The only conclusions which can be drawn from your disgusting remark are that you are stupid or that you think we are. And that is obvious.

You call that serious discussion. Blimey, you can't stop yourself blurting out assertions can you.

Assertions are not any sort of discussion never mind serious and

Quote:

is an assertion. In fact it is two.No -three. And giving out orders. Gag the opposition eh? Thin skins always resort to that sort of stuff. It's like a hallmark.

If you want to do some serious discussion tell us whether you think that a woman who has had an abortion has undermined her femininity or not.

I'm saying she has done so and far enough for me to find her sexually uninteresting. If you don't mind following on behind the killing forceps that's up to you.

And I have said nothing there about what any woman should or shouldn't do with her own body. She can have silicone implants if she wants but they, like an abortion, would deflate me quickstyle.

There are a number of other things which would put me off a woman as well. Supporting abortion for example. Or capital punishment. Or being too easy.

The status of the fetus is self evident to me. It isn't a matter of pedantic discussion by legal experts and amateurs.

A woman wrote a novel a few years ago in which the main female character fed herself cleaning fluids and disinfectants during pregnancy in order to produce monstrously deformed children for exhibition in travelling shows. Presumably you are comfortable with that. It was her own body after all.

And if the government takes tax revenue off abortionists it is living off immoral earnings and that is why I never vote.

Women know that having an abortion is shameful which is why they sneak off to have it done and keep quiet about it afterwards. It is nothing but a convenience to try to square up the inconsistencies of sexual conduct in which "scoring" and "getting it away" with somebody's daughter is considered prima facie evidence of machismo whereas it is solid evidence of the very opposite.

And The Church will never shift its position on the matter. And neither will I. Madonna and Child is a prime icon of Western culture as is the idea of male sacrifice.

No she has not...except perhaps to an uptight guy like you looking to rationalize intruding yourself into a decision that is none of your goddam business. But the direct answer is....absolutely not.

Right! It is a fetus. So what else is new?

Well the way I see it many women will have abortions no matter what the circumstances are, either legal or illegal, mostly due to the pressures the church and society put on them.

In these circumstances, modern day society in the west has developed casual abortions, which i believe must be done away with, as i stated earlier education & information plus some financial support from the church and society may prevent many of these deaths both of the unborn and the mother.

The church at the moment has very little to say, sure in Africa they refuse to promote the use of Condoms, or to give them out, instead they allow the killer disease AIDS to spread, and also allow women to get pregnant just because sex in their eyes is immoral. Its about time religionists get off their high ground and help out.

So I presume you think The Church will change its position and that the Madonna and Child and Cross are not prime icons of Western culture.

Another infantile assertion standing in for an answer. One can only presume there isn't to be one forthcoming. I didn't write the book and I didn't even read it but I read a review of it in Literary Review written by a woman in shock. Don't you think that the "aren't you?" is a bit superfluous not to say stupid. I was only reporting the facts. I made no comment. Why would reporting the facts make me an ass?

I'm content to let other readers be the judge.

A debate is not an argument. There is an audience to a debate. Why do you continually try to tell that audience what to think. They can make their own minds up after seeing both sides.

Why is it only me who is "obtruding". Are you not?

Yes. Why not. Betrothal a grey area.

Is it not the real alternative to this other mess? You are going to have a lot of abortions and other stuff once irresponsible people start shagging randomly round the back of the pub when all popped up.

It's a small price to pay isn't it? Virgin brides are lovely. That's why the non-virgins imitate them when they get married themselves.
