I'm curious as to what kind of abortion takes place in a hospital as opposed to a doctors office or a clinic.

I'm guessing that these are cases when there are serious complications.

This is confusing to me:

Quote:
Christ Hospital says that it compassionately aborts babies with very serious mental or physical handicaps. But Christ Hospital will also abort for life or health of the mother. So at least two of the second-trimester babies who were aborted last year, for instance, were completely healthy.

Completely healthy in what sense? Were they viable? Should the mother have been allowed to die instead?

I'll wager that each and every woman who had an abortion at that hospital would have been joyous and elated to have a truly healthy baby instead of an abortion.

As to the birth certificate thing - the issue birth certificates for stillborn babies. I would certainly think that they would issue them when this type of hospital abortion is done. I think it has something to do with insurance and taxes.

One study showed around three-quarters of women who booked for abortion after 18 weeks' gestation later changed their mind.

She started work in the hospital in 99, and was in front of congress only a few years later, she was eventually sacked due to her going public.

That's all pedantic and legalistic crap.

Do you find ladies who have had an abortion sexually desireable or not?

I don't. They are as sexually desirable to me as dys is and a gate post on a neglected farm. And they know it which is why they hide it.

One in three. Bloody hell!

No. I don't find them sexually attractive but then I'm a heterosexual woman so I don't find any woman sexually attractive.

I think any woman who cancels a scheduled abortion after 18 weeks of gestation has probably changed her mind back, not changed her mind.

I have looked and looked.

I find a lot of stuff about why Jill Stanek says she was fired and that "she can't talk about it for legal reasons" but I can't find a darn thing about why the hospital says they fired her.

Any ideas?

I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. A person's job is not a reliable indicator of sexual attractiveness.

I presume you mean that if he was earning $200,000 and was pretty good looking, well mannered and self-evidently ambitious his being an abortionist wouldn't matter.

Well you can't expect a girl to make a dating decision without knowing what model of car our imaginary abortionst drives!

Golly.

But seriously, his being an abortionist would not be a deal breaker.

You know, I think it would be just a little too cutesy if my imaginary abortionist boyfriend drove the same kind of car I do.

Two identical red ones side by side in the garage would look really cute and stylish. It would show the neighbours who's on the up.

If you're sure it isn't too precious.

I'd better get busy imagining up a bigger garage!

Okay.

I'm feeling a little confessional and you've shown yourself to be a good sport, spendius, so I'm going to tell you a story about why I hate abortion and about the person I love most in the world and why I still support a woman's right to chose.

I have a kid that I call Mo on A2K. I love Mo more than I could ever explain. I would leap tall buildings in a single bound and stop bullets with my body only for Mo. Let me repeat: I love Mo more than I could ever explain.

But Mo wasn't always my kid. Once upon a time he was someone else's kid. And months before he was someone else's kid I offered to help his mother no matter what she chose to do - have the baby or have an abortion. It was her choice and I would not attempt to influence her -- only offer to help in any way I could.

She chose to have the baby and I helped. I helped more than an abortion would have ever cost.

About a week before his second birthday Mo was left at my home and nobody ever came to get him. He's five and a half now. I've been working towards adopting him for the last two years and this summer it will most likely become final. He will really and truly be my son.

When I think that I could have helped him to not be here - to have helped his mother abort him - I just feel... feel... I can't explain it.

I am so glad that he is here. I love him more than I ever thought I could love someone.

But I know that it was not my choice to make.

And I know that if I hadn't been here that this persons life would have been hell.

And I know that in most cases there is not someone who will completely **** off their life and their job to make sure that things turn out okay.

I am so glad that his mother made the choice that she made.

Pro-choice works that way too.

Congratulations boomer. You make the point better than I ever could.

That lovely tale peels like the layers of a giant onion.

You're in a busy pub right? There's 30 other ladies. It's been on the News that 1 in 3 women have had an abortion. It's a normal pub. So 10 of them have had one. Why should you be tainted by that statistic.

Of course some people think that it isn't tainting but I do.

Thank you! I'm very excited about the adoption (it should be final by then end of July) and I'm very happy with the way things turned out even though I was not in the market to raise a child.

The day that no kid is just left behind on a friend/relative (usually a grandparent)'s doorstep, the day that there is no need for foster care, the day that no child suffers abuse or neglect at the hands of their parent is the day that I will oppose abortion.
