So, what did the grand-dogs do for you for the happy occasion?

(Great pictures, btw)

We'll be taking the grand-dogs to the hamburgers for a little adventure this long weekend.

I'm going to poke around in the hamburgers' albums for a more 'official' wedding day pic.

50 years
thanks for all the good wishes !

indeed , it was 50 years and 1 day ago - hard to believe - but time flies when you are having fun .

in august we have another 50 year anniversary : 50 years in canada - in early august .
(the originator of this thread will have to wait for another year for her 50th 'anniversary' !)

when we got married we had already decided to give canada a try . so going to canada was our 'honeymoon cruise' .
luckily things worked out well ; so here we are 50 years later , still on our honeymoon .
coming to canada sure was the right move for us (also being endorsed by ehbeth , we understand - not that she had much say in that).

thanks again for all your good wishes ... and keep a song in your heart !
the hamburgers

just to give you an idea of the size of the ship we were on - Prins Willem III.
this is one of the ships of the dutch 'oranje line' , appr. 1,500 tons (!) , carried 11 passengers , crossing time from rotterdam via le havre to montreal 14 days . there was one dining room , all meals at the captain's table , we felt like millionaires !

Okay, hamburgers. What would you like to hear for your anniversary?

Seriously, ehBeth. What a wonderful thing for you to do for your folks.

How about something by Sinatra:

You go to my head,
And you linger like a haunting refrain,
And I find you spinning round in my brain
Like the bubbles in a glass of champagne

Oh Bethie, so glad I saw this thread. Your pics are great and I look forward to many more.

Congratulations to the Hamburgers! 50 years is remarkable and you two seem to have made the jouney with happiness and grace.

Did I hear somewhere that the honeymoon voyage was fruitful in more ways than one?? Well, anyway, the Hamburgers had only one child but WOW, what a girl!!

Enjoy your celebratory weekend away, hamburger.

And Mrs H is right: Gus is a lovely man .... underneath! She's very astute.

A thought: wouldn't it be nice if Mrs H posted here, too? Very Happy

Congratulations! RP's folks celebrated their 50th last August, and mine did last December. It's wonderful - loving each other for so long.

On May 18, 1956, Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel" made it to #1 on the pop charts. It was his first #1 single. Billboard ranked it the #1 single of 1956.

May every day be as wonderful as it can be.
