Hi im really hoping someone can help me, all i want to know is how long does it take for the deprovera injection to wear off your system, does it depend on how long you have been on it for or does it depend on the individual??
somebody please give me some indication of how long im going to be waiting before i can start having a family.
thanks
didn't you just post about this on another thread?
Hi ptwee,
Have you talked to your doctor about this?
This is what I found from a site with info about Depo-Provera:
Quote:Future Fertility
Women who want to become pregnant may stop using Depo Provera at any time. For some women, fertility returns immediately. For others, it may take 6-18 months or longer for the body's hormone cycle to go back to normal.

Hi, I spoke to my doctor about this but it was 3 yrs ago when i started taking depo, but she was very confident that it will only take 6 months, this was back in england, and after reading about other womens experiences with depo, im curious that maybe she was wrong.
If you're worried, I'd suggest talking to your current doctor (do you have one?)
From what little I know about this it seems unlikely that anyone can predict with any particular confidence how long it will take. As in, it can be more likely that it'd be 6 months, but that doesn't mean it will be 6 months.
What I remember from when I went off birth control pills is that there wasn't any harm in trying right off, it's just that it was very unlikely that I'd get pregnant immediately. So the doctor said to not even try (use condoms) for I think 4 months, but when I pressed her as to why -- birth defects? danger to fetus? what? -- she said it was just in terms of not getting hopes up. It took me about a year I think from when I started trying.
Which is the other aspect of this, everyone has differerent degrees of fertility -- even if Depo Provera is completely out of the picture, not everyone can get pregnant immediately. It often takes a while, period.
At any rate, if you're thinking about starting a family, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor.
Good luck!
