When there is sight enough to read....
My son has detaching retinas and was also plagued with cataracts. He rigged up a system of pillows and padding so he could get close enough to see his computer screen. When he read books, he had to curl the page to clear his nose, but he read.
His retinas are still very unreliable, but removing the cataracts has made a great improvement.
How are you on distinguishing tawny dog-in-the-way from tawny rug?
I meant to post that medical news..... thanks for doing it, Noddy!

No problem. You're on my conscience.
Bear had catarac surgery last week and his doctor told him there was a drug now for my MD.
I had noticed some change in my vision last week so went to retina specialist today and sure enough, he said my histoplasmosis (macular degeneration due to a fungus rather than age) is now treated with drugs. No more laser surgery. YEAH!
We have a couple of spots we're gonna watch, but other than that he said for me to start taking Centrum Silver. He gave me a Baush and Lomb sample pack of a vitamin but said it had too much zinc or something and to instead get Centrum Silver.
Vitamins??? I know the histoplasmosis likes to kick in when there is a supressed immune system (stress, flu, lack of proper rest, etc) but is that also the case with age related MD? Could vitamins help?
Luetine (spelled right?) and vitamin A are good for your eyes as are other vitamins, no doubt.
