Funny you should mention it, but California universities are indeed at the forefront in supplying our President with the trained men and women he needs to implement his innovative plan for victory in Iraq!

Nothing compared to what the f**k is wrong with the enemies of freedom who think they can stand in the way of our President's plan for inevitable victory in Iraq!

Ok, I understand the joke now.

Blacksmith and I just dueled it out on a fierce online checkers match to the death.

Q: When is this "inevitable victory in Iraq" supposed to happen? It sure ain't gonna happen during the next three years of Bush's tenure. Also, what do you consider "victory?"

Victory is ours, saith the Lord Bush.

How can you doubt this, ci?

Clear your eyes of that Chicago air and get on the bandwagon.

Victory is just around the corner.

Getting back to the original topic, speaking of maps, I'm thrilled to announce that President Bush has given us a clear roadmap to victory in Iraq!

Finally "catching on" to what's going on. he he he... As a mater of fact, the "air" in Chicago was perfect; the people, the a2k meet, the sunshine most days, the great sites and sounds, and the food was just perfecto! Wink

Even the progress in Iraq is making great strides! Any day now, from what I understand.

Hmmm, some of these threads are starting to resemble my backyard. The ivy is killing the other plants and taking over everywhere I look...

The best way to get rid of ivy is to use vegetation killer; it kills the "roots."

Those who believe that the ignorance of most of our young students( Elementary, High School and College) is manifested only in the area of Geography simply haven't followed the news in Education in the USA.
In Chicago,Illinois, only six out of a hundred students who begin High School actually finish College or University.
This is not primarily because of poor teachers, insufficient financing, No Student Left Behind,or even Racial or Ethnic discrimination. It is primarily because of "culture". There have been numerous learned commentators, among the best of whom is Dr. Thomas Sowell, who have pointed out that Asian students, even those who come from relatively poor families, score better on the SAT tests, especially in Math, that relatively more affluent Blacks or Latinos. Dr. Sowell points to "culture" as the major difference.

Even those who teach in our Universities have pointed out that the essays they receive from prospective students are abominable. It is difficult to understand why so many supposedly intelligent students repeat the same topics over and over--I suppose it is the "what I did on my summer vacation syndrome". It very well might be laid to the quickly declining IQ scores among high school graduates who have been taught by those who were "protestors" in the last four decades of the twentieth century.

Those people were not very well educated either. They spent most of their time "protesting" and very little time acquiring real knowledge.

FEMA couldn't find New Orleans on the map either. (but of course, this was all Bush's fault because he was focusing on clear and decisive victory in Iraq).

Yes, chjsa, but you are focusing only on Geography. Let's look at other areas, such as Mathematics.

The brilliant writer and analyist,Dr. Thomas Sowell, referenced an instance to show that even socioeconomic status does not take the place of motivation and cultural achievement drive. Sowell wrote:

"Neither blacks, MexicanAmericans, nor American Indians, with incomes above the national average, scored as well on the quantative section of the SAT as Asian Americans who came from families below the poverty line."

Those who know little or nothing about Education, or are driven by other impulses, such as Union Objectives, apparently do not know that the "culture" of the family is probably the most vital part of assuring learning for any child.
