Re: Mysterious book
D1Doris wrote:I was in London last week and I bought a book for 30 p. It's in Czech I think and it looks like a fairy tale book, that's why I bought it.
It's called "O hloupém Ivanovi a chytré Jelene". There's a little 'v' on the last 'e', but I don't know how to do that on this keyboard.
Anyway, does anyone know what it means/speak Czech?
These are the contents, it might help to judge if it really is a fairy tale book or not:
OBSAH (I guess that means contents)
Kouselný prsten 7
Voják a carevna 26
Chytrá vnucka 37 (again, there's a 'v' on the 'c' in vnucka)
O hloupém ivanovi
A chytré jelene 46 (with a 'v' on the last 'e')
Bezrucka 62 ('v' on the 'c')
Finist - Jasný sokol 79
Jak voják vsechny zmámil 102 ('v' on 's' of vsechny)
I hope someone will be able to help me.
It is a collection of Russian fairy tales, it seems. "Finist, the bright eagle" is a classic that has been filmed and every generation saw it millions of times. Christmas time classic.
The title of the book: "About stupid Ivan and smart Jelena"
The individual fairy tales:
Magic ring
Soldier and the queen
Clever granddaughter
About stupid Ivan
About smart Jelena
Armless girl
Finist - the bright eagle
How a soldier mesmerized everybody
Hope that helps. Whatcha gonna do with the book?
