Brandon whined:

"Another thing I might have criticized about some people is that they can't distiguish between making a wisecrack in response to someone's assertion and disproving it. How pathetic."

Yes, it is pathetic to see you make wisecracks about "you guys," and offer not a shred of proof. No one has to disprove the bile you puke up, when you offer not a bit of evidence.

Earlier, Brandon whined:

"The thing about you guys is that you cannot distinguish between wishful thinking and reality."

You have any proof that this is so? Other than your whining assertion to that effect. Is this your "thesis?"

Then he went on to whine:

"Bush is the president, has all the powers of a US president, and will continue to be the president until the next one takes office on January 20, 2009."

If this is your "thesis," what was your point? Has anyone denied this? Why should anyone be obliged to disprove that, if that is your thesis, given that no one denied it?

You're the one who is offering pathetic pap and wisecracks around here.

Just another way of saying that you cannot dispute my assertion. No number of ad hominems will do anything to advance the thread thesis or disprove mine. Trying to suppress an opposing viewpoint by insulting the poster is dishonorable.

Yes. My point is that Bush's presidency is not effectively over, that this is simply a false liberal fantasy.

Now Brandon whines:

"Just another way of saying that you cannot dispute my assertion."

You can't even seem to remember what your assertion was. No one here is obliged to disprove your bile, and you have made no effort to prove it were so.

Many times you can make a fantasy come true if you just work on it hard enough!

Now we get to the heart of the matter. What is the "false liberal fantasy" to which you refer, and upon what basis can you reasonably allege that any such fantasy is entertained by anyone here, let alone "you guys," a vague enough group which you have never identified?

Are we really supposed to believe that you earn a living as a scientist?

I think the idea of the Politics board is that people offer and debate competing ideas. As far as I know, the point is not that when someone disputes an assertion, you try to impeach his character in the hope that he'll becomes discouraged. I offered a perfectly clear assertion - that the idea expressed in the first post is incorrect for the reason I stated. Go ahead and submit post after post about how far beneath you my ideas and I are. It's just another way of declaring that you can't support your ideas.

You offered absolutely no proof for what you laughably refer to as your "thesis." You offered no identification of to whom you referred with your "you guys" whine.

You offer nothing which qualifies as debate, so you need to get off your high horse, which is apparently only a tall hobby horse.

Well, ignoring the rather pathetic ad hominems, the false liberal fantasy I referred to is that Bush is in some sense no longer the president. This is of the same stripe as the idea expressed here often that Bush is on the verge of being impeached. Both are examples of the wishful thinking I see so often among the Bush-haters.

I have offered no personal remarks about you, but you typically whine that you were personally attacked when someone demands that you offer proof of your assertions. I made no case at all that the Shrub would not be the Culprit in Chief until the end of his term, so i have no obligation to disprove your groundless assertion.
