I think most people would picture an unsuccessful actress.

Wilso- I disagree. An aspiring actress is a female who has ambitions to be an actress, but is not one, yet.

Quote:
aspiring

adjective

Full of ambition: ambitious, emulous.

I picture someone who's performing in community shows and wants to do bigger and better. Them's the quirks of the English language.

Wilso, what would you call a theater-arts major in college who waits tables for a living?

An aspiring actor/actress. For me, both definitions make sense. I'm not saying anyone's wrong!

Now we get to the real definition problem..

define "actress"

Someone that has done one community theater or High School piece
Someone that performs irregularly (one piece a year perhaps for less than a month)
Someone that gets paid to perform
Someone that is presently performing

Which definition is the person aspiring to?
