Thank you for the info, Winthorpe. I just checked, and luckily, I use a different brand.
I use disposables, so I'm safe.
everytime I see something like this I'm glad I got lasik.
Tell me Chai, don't you have more sensitivity to light now?
Is your vision 20/20 or do you need glasses?
I am always toying with it
but ultimately I'm too chicken then.
Let me put it this way....
If I had to do it all over again, I would hop up on the table right this second.
Yes, I had it done 4, maybe 5 years ago, and I see 20/20 still in both eyes.
The most important thing is to find the best doctor around, one who has done the most and had the least problems, and don't settle for less. Don't bargain hunt.
Light sensitive? No, not really, I do wear sunglasses now, but that's only because I wore glasses before, so couldn't wear them.
The only difference now is, the first thing I do when I wake up is put some artificial tears in...the eyes tend to dry during the night.
No big thing, the drops feel heavenly.
If you like to know more, like what it felt like, I'd be glad to PM you?
don't want to hijack winthorpes thread.
No worries, hijack away. I can't wait until my prescription bottoms out and I can get lasic. I've only worn contacts for a little over a year and I'm already tired of them.
What's your age, if you don't mind me asking?
I know it makes sense to wait until your eyes are as bad as they're gonna get, but that might take some time.
The opthamologist who did my eyes will "fine tune" them if they worsen. The only stipulation is that I return to him every year for my eye exam.
Whoa! That reminds me, I had mine done in the middle of April, so it's time to get examined.
Thanks!
24 hours after lasik when I went back for a post op exam, I was at 20/20.
However, for the first month your eyesight does weird things....never enough to make you unsafe while driving or anything, it's more like going from looking at something close, then far away, your eyes felt sometimes like they couldn't figure out what to focus on.
I don't need any help with computer reading, or casual reading you do at work, but when I sit down to read a book, I just use those reading glasses you can pick up at any drug store...the least power, +1, that hasn't changed over the years either. I bought a bunch of pairs online....cats eyes, power attorney, artist, whatever I'm in the mood for.
There was only one evening during that first month, I came home tired with a headache, couldn't focus on a book, the TV or anything. I closed my eyes and put my head back thinking "did I make a mistake?" Then, in the morning, all of a sudden there were no problems at all. funny huh?
my friend wears contact lenses and she cant manage to open her eyes easily when the sun's shining brightly!!
Why do contact lens wearers become light-sensitive?...They do lasik here too..my friend is 23 - guess she should wait - right?
I've been wearing contacts for 30 years and have only had the sensitivity to bright light once. Turns out the contacts were ill-fitted. I went to a different optometrist and got correctly fitted and never had a recurrence of the problem.
I'd suspect your friends light sensitivity is not due to her contacts so much as an underlying issue. Birth control pills can cause light sensitivity, thyroid eye disease can cause light sensitivity...there are plenty of reasons. She needs to speak to her eye doctor.
