Lambchop was a hand puppet character on an American television show for kids.

psst while I got you olga...we went to an Australian themed chain restaurant called the Outback...you'd die laughing at all the faky aussie stuff.
The food was quite a good value
We started with their famous bloomin onion and Margaritas were 2-4-1 so we got them on the rocks. We both ordered the special-9 oz top sirloin with a baked sweet potato and sauteed green beans.

At $50 it was a good deal for some good chow

a nice juicy porkchop - panfried , mashed sweet potatoes with sourcream/butter/chives from the garden , side salad and tom juice .
i was able to survive until 5 o'clock when we had a slice of homemade hazelnut cake , very small slice of chocolate/cointreau torte and plenty of tea .
seriously considering making a pumpernickle sandwich with swiss cheese , smoked ham and turkey breast , followed by banana and kiwi .

I'm impressed. That's quite an exquisite piece of draughtsmanship there, panzade. (The famous bloomin onion! Never heard of it! And it's famous in the US! I'm missing out on something here!Surprised )
I take it that the decor was based on a desert theme & the serving staff were the real Aussie thing?: "G'day mate, what'll it be then?" "Bewdy, mate!"
Sounds like you enjoyed yourselves anyway & had a few laughs, yes?

An early dinner tonight. A take-away, as I suddenly felt famished at the tail end of a very long walk: falafel kebab. Freshly made falafel (3 of them) on a generous bed of various salad goodies between thick pieces of fresh Turkish bread & with a smidgeon of garlicky sauce. Very nice!

Outback Steakhouse is about as Australian as a fish taco, but they do have great food and they are community service oriented, each store giving a percentage of its sales away for fund raising and other events.

Last night I tried to make baby bok choy with a kung pao-like sauce. I served it on red rice. It was alright, but not great.

Yes. When they first opened across the US, there was a great deal of positive buzz about them. Long waits and lines out the door to get a table. It's been quite a few years now that that has died down, but from a recent dining experience, I can say their food is quite good.

One of my daughter's sports team had their year end banquet there. They are a new crew (rowing) team that struggled to raise enough money to put shells on the water, much less throw a party. Outback closed the restaurant for the private party and served lunch to about 70 people, for free. The food and service were so good, even though they were obviously training new help, I doubled the suggested $10/family tip.

The "Bloomin Onion" is very spicy and quite addictive with the sauce. The sirloin steak I had was aged and cooked to perfection. Even the house salad was very good.

Thanks for that, cjhsa. I learn something new here every day!

Dinner for the past 2 nights: a hearty, "glorified" pea & ham soup. Made with smoked meaty ham bones bought from the local deli & many other ingredients, along with split green peas, of course! Just the thing for these freezing, cold nights!

yesterday I had capellini with marinated shrimp, pancetta, basil pesto, wild mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes in a white wine butter sauce. (Osso had the same) Lady diane had baked cavatelli, house made pork sausage, mushrooms, roasted garlic, marinara cream sauce, ricotta, parmesan and pine nut gremolata. we done ate well.
