Oh yum, ehBeth, that sounded absolutely fantastic!

Onlyinspired geniuses could create dishes like this <sigh>:

*Lentil consommé with tamarind marinated caramelized scallops.

* Garlic flavoured five greens compote (spinach, Swiss chard, rapini, kale, fenugreek) with basil vinaigrette and chestnut-crusted paneer, served with stuffed baby radish paratha.

.. um ... any left-overs?

Last night my friend A & I returned to the eatery we went to last Saturday night. This time we were going to have one of those amazing looking steamed fish, forget the claypot fair! So we did. A yummy steamed snapper (just the right size for 2) with steamed rice & garlicky bok choy on the side. Plus a couple of little mezze plates: garlic shoots (first I've ever tried them.) & a baked capsicum stuffed with nuts & all sorts of other goodies. Very good! Very Happy

Last night I cooked the rest of the cauliflower that i got from my local vegetabel farm. I steamed it and then made a cheese sauce for it and put it under the broiler. It was very good cauliflower, and I'm not a cauliflower fan. Served it with a green salad with beauty heart radishes. Most unusual radish. It's huge and whitish on the outside but deep red on the inside. Quite tasty.

Our food group went to Bonjour Brioche for brunch yesterday.

I have eaten waaaaaay too much good food in the last ten days.

<urp>

~~~~~~~~
I had Setanta rub some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a mystery dry rub from Pakistan the other day. He baked it, and put it aside as it was toooooo hot for him.
I sauteed a coupla big sweet onions, sliced the chicken in, added some bottled garlic alfredo sauce, and a big can of green peas. Let everything simmer. It was delicious. If I'd picked up that coconut milk I was looking at and added some slivered almonds, it would have made a good faux butter chicken.
I'm hoping it will survive tonight - it would be good for lunch at work tomorrow, with a side salad.
had some friends over for a late lunch/early tea .
they wanted to see our pictures from our spring cruise .
of course mrs h prepared way too much food - but it won't go to waste :wink: .
started with cauliflower-soup (mrs h's special recipe) ,
followed by platters of russian eggs , smoked salmon , shrimps (with my own special sauce) , well aged cheddar cheese , fresh sourdough bread ,
a bottle of (local) wine - 'geisenheimer' from prince-edward county winery , a plate of fresh fruit .
tea was a simple affair : a marzipan/plum cake and a chocolate/mocha/grand marnier torte , plenty of black tea .
nobody left hungry :wink: .
plenty of left-overs for me to nibble tomorrow Very Happy .
Having kitchen fish soup -
some fresh chopped onion sauteed in olive oil,
some leftover translucent onions in pepper mustard & lemon
some fish boullion and several cups of water
some chopped leftover roasted red potato slices
some roasted garlic, sliced
some roasted red pepper
a can of some small sardines in green chile sauce
the little bit of leftover baked fresh salmon
the storebought not so great pear tomatoes that I had previously roasted
buncha tears of fresh basil
some frozen peas
oh, say, a 1/4 pound or less of broken linguine.
some pepper, some chile flakes.
not necessarily in that order, the already cooked fresh salmon and the not cooked basil being last.
There, that was good.
Tonight: the remains of last night's short order "Asian" chicken (with very thin Chinese egg noodles) soup. (That's what it was called in the recipe book) Fresh egg noodles will be added tonight to the stock with chicken.
This is by far the quickest & tastiest soup I've made. Yum!
Ask for the recipe if you're in very short order mode! It works & it's healthy!
I don't know what you mean by 'short order' msolga...
But it sounds yummy - do you have the recipe?
Sorry for the delay in replying, Sarah. I've been away for a while.
My understanding of short order is a meal put together with what's on offer, in a hurry. Like a curry in a hurry! But it may have another meaning in the US, who knows?
Anyway, that's my sort of cooking these days ... no frills, no fuss! But it must be tasty!Very Happy
ooooh there's the Ukrainian Witch! Missed you <smooches>.
~~~~~~

Last night was yams/sweet potatoes/carrots/potatoes all mashed together. Yum. Smoked sausage on the plate as well, and green beans with pesto. Double yum.
