I’ll always remember his first meatloaf, after being in the oven for 45 minutes and not smelling anything cooking I walked over to check on it.

He forgot to turn the oven on!

Antonio loves turkey so my plan was to buy a turkey breast and roast it. Well all they had at the market was frozen turkey breast so I bought a nice roasting chicken. I’ll be serving it with mashed potatoes, gravy, a scalloped corn casserole and for dessert I’m making a homemade pumpkin pie. Cool

Pictures to follow.

@jcboy,
I just took the pumpkin pie out of the oven, it has to cool a couple of hours so we can have it after dinner.

This is the eighth pumpkin pie I've made since Thanksgiving, I decided to try it once and they liked it so much I made one ever two weeks for dessert. Cool

@jcboy,
The chicken is ready to put in the oven. Buttered nicely and salt and peppered. I’ll make the gravy out of the pan juices later.

This is a pretty big roasting chicken so after dinner I’ll be making a nice chicken and rice soup with the leftovers, add some onion, celery and carrots.

My chicken is almost done, about 30 more minutes, just a little more basting.

Wait until I put some of that juice over the dogs dry food and they will go hog wild Cool

@jcboy,
You're such a good Mama to all of your family - two and four legged ones.
The chicken looks good.

I bought a Tagine and have tried some recipes in it....very good! THis is not mine, just a picture from google images...

@CalamityJane,
I made a nice chicken and rice soup with onion, celery and carrots out of the left over chicken. That’s what we had last night for dinner, and of course some more of that pumpkin pie. We’re just leaving now for dinner, eating out tonight since we didn’t have time to cook.

@MMarciano,
I just remembered the name of the market(s) that may or may not carry tomatillos - Bristol Farms. There's one in Newport Beach, and a bunch of others.

Probably better, here's Yelp on hispanic markets in Orange County -

@ossobuco,
We did find tomatillos at another market so Marco said he was making his chili verde this weekend.

The Rican will be cooking this evening, he found some nice fresh grouper so we'll be having it with rice and green beans this evening.

@jcboy,
Yay...

Last night, cole slaw with jalapenos and warm roasted pork in a tortilla.

Tonight, I dunno, I'm snacking, feta cheese and small mexican green olives - waiting for the bread to rise, an ital sourdough. I just finished roasting canned Marzano tomatoes w/olive oil and garlic. I'll probably snack away and then have one of the already roasted country pork ribs. Maybe a beer.

@ossobuco,
Of course, it had to be Ital sourdough. What else?

Walking by the Seafood dept I was seduced by a tray of tuna sushi and took it home, mixed up some wasabi and soy sauce and scarfed it down.
