@jcboy,
Chef JC’s crock-pot roast came out fabulous, the meat was nice and tender. I didn't cook the potatoes with the roast, made mashed potatoes. Antonio cleaned his plate. Of course that could have been because he wanted some of the vanilla ice cream for dessert.

We’re having leftovers tonight, that roast was pretty big. So neither of us has to cook tonight.

@jcboy,
The Puerto Rican is grilling chicken breast, having it with rice and fresh sautéed spinach. For dessert they will have a slice of my apple pie with some vanilla ice cream. I’ll be skipping dessert tonight.

I’m going to the mall after din din, looking for some bread pans so I can make homemade bread. Stay tuned.

@jcboy,
I haven't baked bread in pans in years, she says. I do hearth breads on tile. And I haven't bought store bread in a few years.

I'm surely not against pan breads, but consider it a step.

Skipping along, look at this website:

@ossobuco,
Oh I didn't know that, I always thought you had to bake them in bread pans Smile

@jcboy,
I didn't either. I'm as obnoxious as I am because I've made a huge number of mistakes.

@ehBeth,
I actually had a Dutch oven but that was before I learned how to cook, at least I thought it was a dutch oven, I didn't know what it was at the time so I gave it away to a local thrift store.

@jcboy,
Like duh.

My iron ware is from an old quanset hut army navy store, and I did give a griddle away (whacks self), but have other stuff left.

I also - and this is worse because I knew better - left my wok back in california. Weight mattered..
Oh, never mind, that was just dumb, relative to other stuff I packed.

Not everything in Willams Sonoma or a place I don't remember the name of in Culver City that a friend brought me to on my last visit to LA - it was like taking me to heaven, plus I could get coffee.. is great.

anyway, beware the glare of new stuff. Don't just buy and buy, that is patently stupid (she says sternly).

@jcboy,
do you have anything that you can use to cook in the oven?

really. anything.

you really don't need to buy any special device to bake bread in - in fact the better boules are not baked in containers but on tiles or baking sheets (cookie sheets can work as can pie plates)

ok - you've got dutch ovens - you're good to go to start baking bread!

@ehBeth,
It was sort of a toaster oven looking thing, it was pretty big but I wasn't sure how to use it so I just got rid of it.

If I have time this weekend I just might bake my first loaf of bread. Cool

@ehBeth,
I suspect they have some frenchy pots -
and depending on the size, those are good (Le Crueset, they're called)

@jcboy,
I'll bet it was a nice big convection toaster oven. Someone will be very happy to pick that up.

I cook nearly everything in my giant convection toaster oven - small roasts, cookies, muffins, roast chicken ...
