@msolga,
A lucky invite from your friend, msolga. It's hard to imagine it being too hot and humid to cook just now -- from my end of the planet. It's quite cold here although we can't complain about snowfall as so far this winter there's been much less than usual.

Still, a hot meal was in order, so -- homemade bread (actually looked and tasted like bread -- a first for me! Can you tell I'm thrilled?) and creamy potato soup. Very warming.

Yes, I can, Tai. I'd be thrilled, too!

Plus a good, warming soup. What more could you ask for on a cold evening?

Me tonight: (far too hot & sticky to go anywhere near the stove.) An avocado, some dry biscuits with some double brie on top & a couple of slices of cantaloupe.

@msolga,
Three mushrooms (dried porcini revivified (5), cremini (6), oyster (1 clump) - all sliced, and garlic and a bit of chopped scallion all sauteed in butter. Salt, pepper, pint of half and half. Two or three dried chiles, the small red ones, crumbled, including seeds, a crunch of dried oregano.

Tossed with just cooked cavatelli - 1/2-2/3 pound.

So, spicy mushroom semi alfredo.

I'm having a friend over for dinner tonight. Cooking something called Sticky Chili Chicken, which I haven't cooked before. (I don't like the look of it at this stage. Neutral ), plus steamed rice & green beans. Maybe some yoghurt & fruit for dessert. Better get a move on!

I had popcorn for dinner last night, but not on purpose.

Tonight I head to my parents' and will attempt a second version of turkey mole. I will serve it with avocado and grape tomatoes, and rice.

Pepper sandwich, made with onion, orange, yellow and red peppers, sliced long and thin.
Saute in skillet with olive oil, a little Balsamic vinegar and some turbinator sugar. Saute until it is carmelized and very little liquid. Put in heated wheat hamburg bun.
Can be annoying because it takes while to get just right - maybe 20 minutes.
Takes 3 peppers for two people.

Every year two good friends host a Chinese New Year dinner/party at their house. This year it was postponed twice, but it was still well worth the wait. They have a new house and a new baby (both a little more than 6 months old). I saw old acquaintances and met the new neighbors. And of course, I was able to gaze upon the baby who is adorable. Dozens of man-hours were spent over the last month preparing the food for this party. There were dumplings, pot-stickers, buns, noodle dishes, wantons, etc. Care was taken to provide plenty of vegetarian food. One mother provided a three-kings cake (yum!). It was quite nice and much appreciated.

@ossobuco,
I suppose I should or should not remark on the new yorker article on Peter Chang, by Calvin Trillin, as fame could be his downfall. Let's say I understand all those people.

Tired after work, I bought my dinner at one of my local eateries on my way home tonight.
A falafel wrap, full of all sorts of goodies like bits of pickle, lots of salad & some yoghurt & chili sauce.
Not the perfect dinner fix, but it saved me from cooking, which I was not at all in the mood for tonight.

Yum! I make Ina Garten's version of this sandwich...using goat cheese and roasting the peppers, then serving on ciabatta bread. Mr.Irish doesn't care for sandwiches for dinner, but if he's out of town, this always hits the spot for me!
