I have just recently consumed the entire rib cage of a wildebeest.

It came with chips. (I wasn't willing to shell out the additional dollar for fries.)

I tried out Einstein's Bagels, across the street from my worldly goods storage facility in Abq. Toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese, tomato, capers, topped with lox. Pretty good. Beat Noah's Bagels, for example... this bagel had some chew to it. Also, it was two doors down from Starbucks, so I could buy the NYTimes in print form and wallow in it whilst I got cream cheese on my nose ... ooh, four articles on the front page alone that interested me..

I forgot to list thin sliced bermuda onion. Could have done without the tomato, as I always can do without non farmer's market or homegrown.

djj, Very Happy

I found some fresh ahi tuna at WalMart Sad and gave in to its $10/pound vs Wellspring's $20/pound. Marinated it in soy, Dijon, sherry, and olive oil then smoked it in my striated iron skillet that I had heated in a 400 oven for 15 min. Wow, it was gorgeous. Seared outside and rare in. I heated and re-energized the marinade and poured a bit over the tuna that I had semi sliced.

Served with a (packaged at WalMart??) broc, carrot, etc., salad that I dressed with seeds, pumpkin oil, white balsamic, etc. It was a great side for the tuna.

Hauled out a good wine from the cellar. And watched a NetFlix disc of E.T. Great fun.

I suspect you need a patch of sun to grow chard......

It probably does, k. But then, I've never grown any plant in a completely sunless spot. I have, however, been shamefully neglectful of chard I've planted & it's survived (once established) despite the lack of nurturing. (Not in perfect condition, mind, but it's survived, just like a weed!)

supper
only had a 'light' breakfast this morning : cereal with fresh fruit and yoghurt , bratwurst and eggs (no bacon) , swiss cheese and cheddar , baguette and pumpernickel , tea , coffee .
as i said : it was a 'light' breakfast - have to take the dogs for a walk again - they need the exercise .

sounds better than this meal

I heard Allah and Buddha were singing at the Savior's feast
And up the sky and Arabian rabbi
Fed Quaker oats to a priest.
Pretty good, not bad, they can't complain
Cause actually all them gods is just about the same
Pretty good, not bad, I can't complain
Cause actually everything is just about the same

Nex time, try some fresh black eye peas and simmer for an hour or hour and a half in a mix of water and Sweet Baby Ray BBQ Sauce.

drool.....

and the green beans....if you've got the oven going with other stuff, or if the grills going....chop the top off a head of garlic, pour on olive oit so all the cloves get covered, wrap in aluminum foil, and bake/roast for an hour or more until the head is smuchy.

when your beans are almost done, get rid of the water, squeeze in some cloves, had some diced tomatos, more olive oil, lemon juice, and let 'em sizzle for a minute or 2 (oh, and salt).
