@msolga,
Very simple tonight, pumpkin soup and garlic bread for openers, bangers and mashed potatoes for main, followed by a dish of bread and butter pudding.

@ehBeth,
I hate to do this all the time, ehBeth, but I have to ask: What are "cheddar smokies"? I have absolutely no idea. Confused

@msolga,
we are certainly a collection of interacting commensal communities. Id never realized that before, I just took it for granted.

Tonight we had the last of the meatloaf, fresh green beans, hash browns, and the last of the cantaloupe. Which means we'll be stopping at the market after church in the morning. Smile

@Foxfyre,
working up a chicken broth with a can (geez) of medium hot enchilada sauce and multiple times that of water..

oddly, since I usually saute them, 3 sliced fresh garlic cloves, but they are just milder in soup;

I plan to add some previously cooked black bean concoction (probably involving onions), roasted chicken bits, some hot ital sausage, and commercial 4 cheezy tortellini. Well, there's a mess for which I've no defense.

Eh, this will be an ok soup, it tastes ok already.
I'm not happy about this, but it'll do for today.

I've bought some pork, am thinking of doing ravioli. We'll see.

doing salmon tomorrow for my gramma, and wanted to make sure I remembered how to make it all go...

@Rockhead,
Santa Monica Beach south of the pier... Not kidding, I freaked as we were walking the boardwalk., but then, I would. Next day we saw in the paper two people were blinded. Okay, one, maybe two. It was a sloppy scene.

I was never in vietnam, but I get freaking with this stuff. I suppose I also understand exulting, but that is harder.

@Rockhead,
this is not the favorite holiday of the cats. they are actually playing with one another out here where the music is, and normally they prefer a separate window. (stinky has a horror story from Tennessee years ago over the 4th)

this too shall pass.

fish was verra good with some red onion and fresh parsley.

@msolga,
we had a really good supper. We grilled some big burgers topped with cheddar cheese and a homemade sauce of mushrooms and caramelized onions , ANNNDDD, the very first sweet corn of the season. It was sooo gret.

Mrs F made a blckberry cobbler which we had outside amidst the holiday weapons testing.

Our cats headed for the basement and didnt come back up till well after midnight. They abhor anything loud , so we leave the cellar door open usually all summer because of thunderstorms and fireworks
