[I got the ingredients for the soup - maybe next weekend ...]

Did we eat a meal last night? hmmmmmm, no - still too full from the late lunch - I snacked on some junk - sea salt and black pepper peanuts, and then a small handful of sour fruit salad gummies.

Crab Louie made by Diane, served with sliced fresh tomatoes and hard boiled eggs; lemon bars and whipped cream for dessert, followed by coffee; good company in that living room.

I'm envious. Asparagus is $3.99 a lb here and I just can't shell out that much...especially when broccoli is a buck a bunch. Crying or Very sad

Panzade, these were on sale. Too cheap not to buy.

I think most folks avoid fat asparagus (these were obese) and buy the thin ones, thinking that they are superior. Perhaps WF decided to use them as a loss leader.

I'm with you on the fat asparagus, Kara. They are better roasted than the skinny ones. I'm envious of you culinary skills, though. My cooking is good for home cooking, but not gourmet.

I picked up some fat asparagus to have tonight.

Still mulling what they'll be complementing.

I've got some left-over roast beef that might make its way into a veggie beef pie I'm thinking of inventing in the next couple of hours. Veggie beef pie/roasted asparagus/salad. A small glass of Baco Noir. Could be good.

We had my mother and mother-in-law over for brunch today. We had asparagus quiche, mustard vinagrettte potato salad on field greens, cinammon rolls (store bought), and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

I didn't need supper. <burp>

Egads..... I ate way too many potato pancakes a la Dagmar. I feel like a potato myself right now. I tried to remedy the glut with an apple, it helped a little. I tried asparagus with ginger-soy sauce. Too soon to tell if that'll help.

Veggie pizza (and one slice of sausage and cheese, but don't tell anyone).

And you envy whose culinary skills, Swimp? (Although I question the cinnamon rolls.)

My stepson came over today and cooked dinner for me like he does every year. This year he grilled chicken legs and thighs and ribeye steaks, corn on the cob and my husband made the potato salad and the relish tray. It was a wonderful Mother's Day dinner.

Lasagne - again!

I made 2 trays of lasagne on Saturday night - and took one down to lunch yesterday - visiting a friend in the country.

But the other tray - I start eating it tonight - and probably for the rest of the week. I go on holidays on Friday - so the cat-sitter will get to finish it off!

I made a sort of mexican layer thingie. From the bottom up: red chili tortilla, cheddar cheese, a mash of refried black beans (with sauteed onions, cilantro, coriander, 2 eggs, and chopped hatch green chilis), sushi rice (no long grain rice in the house!) with salt, herbs and oil, and another chili tortilla. Need some vegies.....

Baking some red potatoes, about to saute two chopped yellow onions in olive oil with salt, black pepper, chili pepper, and ital herbs, and then add some sliced crimini mushrooms; make a hamburger to go with this...

have to celebrate that HD is going to build a wall to close off my living room from the kitchen on one side on Wednesday, yippee...

Boneless pork loin, cubed and browned, with corn and 'creole sauce' on brown rice. Side plate of raw veggies.

Ack, I left my nice expensive bottle of ital herbs over at D & D's. So....
I just added some Christmas chile mix, heh. Probably has red and green chile bits and some mexican oregano in it, perhaps parsley and/or cilantro... but, ingredients not listed. Interestingly, I'd already added red chili flakes. These will probably be some peppy mushrooms and onions...
