door lock button on the keyless entry

My last difficult question (there will probably be minor ones in the days ahead).

"He hit the door lock button on the keyless entry twice." "Up ahead on his right a pair of headlights flashed and a horn honked."

This man is not the owner of this keyless car and is checking where it is situated in a parking garage.
But "twice". Did he open the door and then immediately closed it again to obtain the sound signal?
And "entry" - the door or the device (the remote)? Probably the device. What does it look like?

On my car, which has a keyless entry, if you click it once, it will lock the doors. If you click it twice, it will "beep", and the lights will flash, so you know that the alarm is working.

If you are in a parking lot, and can't find your car, one thing that you can do is click the remote control lock position twice. In fact, my remote has a "panic" button. If you press that, the alarm will go off. I have had to use THAT to find my car! Embarrassed

@literarypoland,
That depends how the keyless lock is programmed. The remote might close the door itself when the button is pressed twice, but it may also happen that if the pressing occured immediately after the first press, then some systems may ignore one of it and some may consider it a testing measure.
