A question - since I am not a vet, do you think I am not entitled to an opinion on the war?

Just putting your opinion in perspective ...

Anon

So,this means that only those who have had abortions can discuss them, only those that vote can talk about voting and politics, only those that drive camaro's can talk about them, etc???

No it doesn't mean that, but if you're so hell bent on seeing blood, why not give your own in the place of one of those boys just like in the video.
You want to scream war from the hilltops, why not get yourself a nice cozy spot on a hill in Iraq, where you could give the troops the courage they need to go on?

I drive a 1987 Olds, by the way!

I already gave my blood, and part of my right hand,in Iraq.
2nd Battalion,25th Marines.
I was wounded in Nassiriyah.
Sorry to disappoint you,but I've been there already.

No disappointment here, MM. Sorry to hear about that and I'm sure it was terrible for you.

Anyway, I still don't agree with you, but McG seemed to think that I should agree with everyone in a certain group.

Well, to keep perspective here, you said

I think any person who has actually been in combat has a better perspective on what's really happening and not the BS we get from the media.

Just my opinion of course.

Is MM's perspective acceptable?

I agree that anyone who has been in a combat situation would have a better perspective, but we all still think differently and I just don't happen to agree with MM.

There's lots of soldiers who didn't like being soldiers.

But they don't all protest against their peers.

MM,

Whether you were in actual combat, whether you were in this Iraq war or the last one, you still bothered to show up!!

I don't dislike you because you're military, and I repect your service and the fact that you had the frakking courage to show the hell up!!

I dislike you because of your bias and eternal hatered of women! I've thought you were a turd ever since I read your little screed aqainst women and womens rights that you were so proud of on Abuzz. It has never benn about you being a soldier!!

I don't hate women but I don't think much of "women's rights". The ERA failed repeatedly because it was gay more than it was about women.

I don't see any discrimination against women in this country. Some talk about a glass ceiling - certainly not in any of the industries I've worked in. Even in aerospace, where females were few and far between in management ranks, the legal teams were loaded with women, and we all know who makes the rules and where the buck really stops. Lawyers.

Are you really that stupid??
Yes,I did serve in Desert Storm, and no,I was not wounded there.

I was wounded while trying to treat a little girl, who had been hurt while trying to get out of the way during the invasion of Iraq.
She and her mother were on a bridge across a river in Nassiriyah, when Iraqi forces started firing at us.
We held our fire, trying to let the little girl and her mother get to safety, but they got hit.

I went after them,along with 2 marines.
I was wounded,as was one of the marines, but the mother and daughter were saved, except the little girl got hit by some shrapnel.

So once again, you prove to have no idea what you are talking about.

Yes,I did.
I found it to be moving, and hard to watch.
While I dont share all of the sentiments of those soldiers depicted,I can understand their feelings and their anger.

One thing I did notice was that most of the soldiers on that tape seemed to have enlisted because of,or around the time of 9/11.

To be honest, they may not have been in long enough to really understand what the service was about, and how things really worked, but thats just my opinion.

All I can say is God bles them, and I hope they find peace with themselves someday.

I hope the same thing, but I don't think there's anything they need to understand about this war. I think they get it loud and clear.

Like you would admit if you were, anymore than one would admit his latent homosexuality.
