I think I'm a caper.

Many people have never tried them, don't even know what they are.

Other people really love them with the right foods. Yet even they aren't quite sure what the heck it is.

Not quite a condiment - more of an accessory.

a caper is a missile. Launched by a childs spoon usually intended for another kid.

I am a fried chicken dinner. Crispy fried chicken done with a cracker meal coating and fried in veggy oil. This I accompany myself with sweet sweet cornbread made with chili peppers in the batter, and collard greens all chopped up and simmered all day in a pot of hamhocks. Yep, Im that way, not complicated but nourishing. No airs and loqded with down home goodness.

Boomerang:

"Capers are the olive-green buds of a bush native to the Mediterranean and some parts of Asia. The buds are picked almost daily -- before they begin to open -- then sun-dried and pickled. In France, capers are classified according to size; the tiniest capers, nonpareilles, are considered to have the finest, most delicate flavor. Capers add a burst of piquancy to seafood dishes and tomato sauces."

...so, you're pickled, eh, and what size might you be: ones with the finest, most delicate flavor or a burst of piquancy?

quite intriguing, either way!

Mmmmmmmm, capers! An essential ingredient in Huachinango a la Veracruzana.

I especially loved your answer, Margo!

I think I'm a yellow transparent apple -- a home-grown fruit, naturally sweet - good plain - versatile enough to be saucy - excellent cooked - bruises easily.

Skin is clear yellow and the flesh is white. Precocious and productive tree. Heavy producer. Pick before maturity for better storage life. Best for cooking.

The double meaning of caper only adds to my caperish feelings.

Thanks sweetcomplication for the true meaning of caper - I had no idea what they were but I love them none the less. Living in Salmon country as I do I always keep my refrigerator stocked with them.

Thanks, Sofia. Teehee. Yep, why be fully mature if you're a FRUIT?

What are you? The Honey Bun was for Rae, right?

Salmon country, did I hear "salmon"? Watch out - BiPolarBear might not take long in moving in!

I love Oregon, but have generally been up and down the coast and have never visited Portland (my loss, huh?)

Piffka--
Yes, the Honey Bun was a choice for Rae. Very Happy
I'm thinking I am something with a few ingredients, that doesn't always come out the same.
Sometimes, its great, and other times you can't believe you used the same ingredients--

Or, I might be wine. Some people have a hoot with me; I make dancing seem easy, and I'm great at parties--while others may get dizzy, confused or throw up.
Of course, I always lead to sex.

Thinking about it I would have to be a Moroccan Tagine...

Everything is cooked and served in the same pot...all the little bits coming together from scratch, cooking together, getting mixed up and creating a whole dish at the end...

That's just what my life feels like sometimes!
