Understands, I just understand a bit when it is written Laughing

[Would be better, if I'd live in the bilingual northern part of Schleswig-Holstein ... we aren't against two language like the Danish in southern Denmark  ]

Ah I see. Hehe
I'm not sure where you get the part about the Danish people in Sønderjylland being against two languages from though. Everyone I know down there speaks German very well. Wink

Probably because they cross the border so often... Beer is cheap in Germany. Laughing

In my experience, if you can order beer in a foreign language, you shouldn't have any problems at all....

Nothing really to discuss: some local politicans get/got excited because on one side of the border (ours http://i14.tinypic.com/4yuj4t1.gif) you find e.g. bilingual traffic signs and on the other (yours http://i9.tinypic.com/4ujum8g.gif) ... not.

What I meant was that Sønderjyder don't seem to have a problem speaking German... As individuals that is. Smile

Walter:
Why do they have all the Danish stuff in Germany? Do a lot of the people in Slesvig still see themselves as Danish or something? Shocked
They used to be Danish of course but that's a looong time ago. Hehe not like we've had any wars with you Germans recently. Heheh

Well, Danish is - among a few others, like Sorbian, Frisian, Low German - a "regionally official language". They've got (by law) at least two lawmakers in the state parliament, Danish schools ...

More here in German - less here in Danish ... and of course all those infos in English.

About the football thing...
Haha! You have like 82.3 million people in Germany and we have 5.4 million here in Denmark. If you guys didn't beat us in all sports I would be disappointed. Laughing

Everyone still remembers 1992 though right? Wink

Hahaha Walter... Think that's what they call denial. Laughing
I was only 12 years old back then and it was a big day in my life. Hehe the Germans sure didn't like it though. One of my friends from school went to Germany with his parents. He was wearing a "We are the champions!" t-shirt with a picture of the Danish football team on it. An old lady in Germany smacked him in the back with her cane. Haha and he was only 12. Laughing

Don't worry though... It's not likely to happen again any time soon. Embarrassed
