Easter Bunny banned by St Paul, MN City Council

If this isn't political correctness run amok, I don't know what it. Appears that officials in St Paul, MN have ordered the removal of an Easter display because it might offend non-Christians.

Now do you think the display was perhaps three empty crosses, an empty tomb, or some other Biblical reference? No...it was a cloth bunny, with pastel colored eggs, and green "grass".

Wonder what this official is planning to do with the name of his city...to further avoid offending non-Christians.

Riduculous.

The article says it was put there by a secretary -- I bet someone just thought it was tacky and wanted to get rid of it.

2 things,

1. It was in the lobby which is a public space. Any displays would be seen as government sanctioned.

2. A worker put it there without permission.

Number 2 is probably the real reason it came down.

It seems to me that pagan fertility symbols would offend Christians more than non-Christians but what the hell do I know?

Current amplification from city officials is that the concern was with the phrase "Happy Easter", not the bunny, eggs, or grass...

should greatly relieve dlowan...
