My initial response was that the contention ought not to surprise anyone. Further investigation leads me to question the method and the intent of Miss Edgell, who is responsible for the survey from which the results were abstracted.

In all circumstances, i am never surprised to learn that Habibi is confused.

Ah, never can resist the temptation to slip in an ad hominem, huh... but it always reflects more on you than on the target...

Best post I've read all day.
Good stuff.

edgar,
did I read you to say that Atheists have ethics without the phoney dressing? Shouldn't you qualify that with "Some atheists"?

Yeah, but given the tendency we humans have to aggrandize ourselves, it is good to use qualifiers like "In my opinion", and "some of them", etc. It ain't just you, edgar - I need to remember to do it, to.

Edgar did say "atheists in general" which would seem to indicate "most" and I'd agree. Any atheists here think they are NOT ethical?

I'm kind of an atheist -- I'd be more likely to call myself agnostic -- and I'm so ethical it hurts. I think I probably even cross the "annoyingly goody-good" line.
