Hmmm?
As I see it, dealing with them legitimizes them, and that, in turn, ultimately destroys liberalism. I'm not a fan of that outcome - no matter what you might have preconceived about me.
Before 9/11 the vast majority of Muslims were peaceful and moderate. There were small pockets of terrorists.
Since 9/11 and the Bush strategy, the camp of fanatics in the Muslim world has grown steadily.
The genie is out of the bottle, too late to ask moderate Muslims for their help. After Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo it is difficult to find friendly Muslims.

I hope you weren't talking to me.
I was interested in what the answers were going to be.

I note that you did not answer the question.
I am not a Democrat, can I answer? (bm)
brandon, the car is in the ditch, thanks to Mr. Bush.
It's a bit late to ask the question now.
<Pulls up a chair next to Lash>
Don't mind me, I just like to watch.

lmao What planet have you been living on? There were several hundred recorded terrorist incidents by muslims globally every year since the mid 1970s.
Muslims in general may be more outspoken about their feelings/views towards the U.S. and other western countries since 9/11 but they didn't sudddenly give up being moderate over night on 9/11.
Whatever the number of terrorists was before 9/11, it has easily tripled since then.
20 000 Iraqi innocent civilians killed during the invasion.
Many buildings and the infrastructure destroyed.
Many Iraqis imprisoned and tortured.
That did not happen overnight, but it changed the mind of millions of Muslims, don't you agree?
Why is Iraq in such a mess today? It had nothing to do with 9/11. Lies and more lies.
One mistake after another; surely you must see that too. Nobody can be that blind.

Translation: You have no answer, your rationalizations aside. You criticize, but run when asked for a solution.
I like the way the total question was ignored. I would like to see an answer to the question. There are always people to critize the current solution but no one if coming up with an answers.
We criticized before the Iraq invasion. Now that your man has made a complete mess of things, you come and ask for a solution.
Your side should have listened before jumping. Now it is almost beyond repair.
The Muslim world has been thoroughly insulted and their irrational fanaticism is stronger than ever.
We know how the Democrats would have handled it as John Kerry, who was their candidate for President stated many times.
Go to the UN.
In other words, let someone else decide the policies of the US.
That message was rejected then, and I hope will be rejected the next time a democrat or ANYONE brings it up.
The answer is simple
1) War. That is always a great way to end militancy. When people see that you will use violence, they will abandon violence and look for a political solution.
2) Prison camps. When people see their fathers and sons disappearing without even knowing whether they are alive or dead it will make them seek democracy.
3) Use Generalization to create a large group of enemy. Lump as many people into broad categories as possible. Call them "Militant Islam" while ignoring any distinctions between them...
Then label the whole lot of them with one big slur--- let's say "terrorist" regardless of whether they actually have done, or supported terrorism.
This avoids nasty complex moral or philosophical issues meaning you don't even need to deal with the fact that there are innocent people are getting screwed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. If they are all terrorists, then there are no innocent people.Problem solved.
4) Ignore any complaints from Muslims. The logic is simple. Terrorists are muslim, therefor muslims are terrorists. Palestinians are muslims. Palestinians don't like the wall cutting off their land. Therefore terrorists don't like the wall. Therefor the wall is good/necessary.
5) Torture. If Muslims know that Democracies are willing to use torture, then they will want to be a part of Democracy, Heck if Christians are willing to use torture, then maybe they will even become Christians.
6) Occupation. This kind of goes with war. But when people see we are establishing a strong military presence and we are willing and able to knock down their houses and even that sometimes children die when we do this... they will drop violence and embrace Democracy.
7) Think Happy thoughts. People who are feel they are being demonized and attacked because of their culture don't want you to listen to their concerns. Talk about hospitals. Talk about ink on fingers. This will make people feel better and ignore the fact that they are under occupation, don't have much electricity and live in a battlefield.
If you don't face up to the suffering of the people, it is like their problems aren't real. You can just continue bringing Democracy which they will embrace with open arms in spite of the fact that their neighbors are dying, family members are in prison and they only have a couple of hours of electricity per day.
Yes, this is a great way to Deal with Militant Islam. How can the Democrats possibly do any better.

Yea, it would have been a horrible thing to finish the inspections to know ahead of invading Iraq that there was no WMD. <Sarcasm>
