I don't know why people have their underpants in a twist over Obama going overseas. It seems like to me that for all the criticism that he has received, this is exactly what he should be encouraged to do.

Perhaps after 7+ years of a President ignoring the voice of the people, we just aren't used to the idea of it.

I think it's the right thing for him to do. If you believe that Obama's stance on Iraq is foolish, then let him see for himself and return with new perspective.

Either way, I'm fairly positive that all the republicans calling themselves conservatives while railing on the republicans for not being conservative in these threads will find something wrong with Obama's trip.

Of course, I'm fairly positive that nobody in these threads criticizing Obama is going to go see Iraq first hand and get their own opinion.

I've already been there and would go back today if I could.
But, I dont have the money right now.
If however you want to pay for my round trip ticket, I will start packing my bags right now.

Yes, it is probably about time he goes and finds out something, after years of making grand pronouncements against Bush. I just think he did it backwards is all, I am not condemning him going now, but I think it was long overdue by a few years. I think he should have become educated first, before running for president and running on all of his uninformed opinions.

okie, You know how to criticize Obama, but lack the criticisms against Bush and McCain who are not only incompetent, but McCain is senile, and doesn't even know the countries of the Middle East. That's a scary issue if McCain should win the white house; a dummy running foreign policy.

Okie; how do you read this trash's trash and think it's anything other than straight bigotry?

You must be looking at something he wrote elsewhere as there is nothing bigoted about that statement.

I don't think he looks presidential either. Does that make me a bigot as well?
I've rarely seen cause to consider you in that light. In the waterboy's case; I've rarely seen cause not to.

Billyboy has a huge chip on his little shoulders and calls everyone that goes against his views a bigot.
Billyboy has shown himself to be very immature and irrelevant.

Disagree with Bill, and there is a very real risk of being called a bigot, thats for sure. I would say immature and irrelevant is a fair charge.

Pretty good indication at least that other valid arguments are hard to come by, so it is easier to throw out the bigotry charge.

For whatever it is worth, I have been called a racist bigot by OBill more than I have heard from all other members combined except for possibly eBrown who seems to walk in lockstep with Obill on that score. They could be the same person for all I know. Even Snood, who certainly is not among those who regard me fondly, doesn't play the race card anywhere near to that degree. If you are not among a favored few, if you defend yourself or challenge an opinion, sooner or later you're likely to be labeled a racist, a bigot, and/or dishonest.

The triggers are usually opposition to Obama, opposition to illegal immigration, or opposition to Muslim terrorism. I'm only somewhat exaggerating here. The pattern has been pretty predictable.

I consider it a badge of honor any more. It's my signal that they are out of ammo and that's the only card they have left to play even though they may have drawn it with crayon. Smile

Yep. I've accused quite a few here of bigotry; and backed up every charge. Perhaps as many as 10% of those I've disagreed with (though I seriously doubt the number's that high; I'll spot you 10%) over the years... which is hardly grounds to say everyone I disagree with (Laughing) except to the terminally inept. One might note that Righties with the intelligence to mount their arguments without reaching for bigoted BS (hello Asherman, Georgeob1, Finn, etc.) are seldom, if ever, touched by such accusations... let alone the literally hundreds of Lefties I've argued with over the years. Okie's tired defense of "you accuse everyone of being racist who disagrees" is as empty as his head is of unbiased, useful, information.

But at least he and Foxfyre read something. As near as I can figure, the Waterboy very rarely has even the slightest clue about the truth of his idiotic assertions. And unlike some; may be genuinely stupid enough to not see the inherent racism in a substantial portion of his political posts (Note: even Okie had to consider his last staggeringly stupid comment in a vacuum to deny it). But, like his brethren, the Waterboy continues undaunted in the face of the truth when it's presented, as it almost invariably is.

It matters little to me how many bigots join in the "we're not really bigots dance", because it is a dance nonetheless. It matters little how many I accuse of larceny either; providing they are thieves. Those who are guilty will remain so until they overcome their own ignorance or death. (Shrugs)

Laughing Really? Triggers are irrational fears of Obama or derogatory references to his race, supposed illegal immigration arguments that are really so many bogus assertions about the bad brown man, and I challenge you to demonstrate where I accused someone of bigotry for opposing Muslim terrorism. Rolling Eyes Making sh!t up serves only to make yourself look even more foolish than usual.

Hey H2O, I've been to several A2K gatherings; 2X - San Francisco, 2X -London, 2X - Austin, 2X - Chicago, 1X - Lippstadt, Germany, and 1X - Hawaii. The people I've met at those gatherings will tell you that a) I have my share of yuks, and b) even tell jokes about myself.

As a matter of fact, I'll be planning our 3rd San Francisco Gathering for the Summer of 2009, and you can come and see for yourself.

You weren't the only mentioned in the post. Talk about arrogance. Sheesh.

ANYBODY who accuses me of racism or bigotry toward anybody because of their race or ethnicity or country of origin had to make up sh*t to accuse me. And that's a fact. And you did. And that's a fact.
