okie, I have not made up my mind to vote for Obama, but at this point in the race to the white house, he has it over McCain in this country. I'm just show proof that the republicans statement of a close, head to head, race is a bunch of BS.

Fair enough.

Consider the fact that neither has actually been nominated yet, I again stress that polls are nothing more then political junkie ho-ho's.

You must be looking at something he wrote elsewhere as there is nothing bigoted about that statement.

I don't think he looks presidential either. Does that make me a bigot as well?

I've rarely seen cause to consider you in that light. In the waterboy's case; I've rarely seen cause not to. You're a pretty straight shooter, McG; what do you really think?

I think Obama is trying to get some photo ops in showing some kind of foreign policy experience... Photos always prove that, right?

I see foreign leaders pandering to the American golden child that hasn't even been formerly nominated. I see a candidate for President meeting with actual leaders who have to take time out their schedules and regularly scheduled programming to meet with him so he can get his chops.

So then you will agree that if I was to post pics of Bush talking to world leaders that Bush would look presidential also.

Um... yes?

Because Bush is, I dunno, THE PRESIDENT?

I'm not saying "presidential" in terms of elegance or gravitas or whatever (though that is nice, too) -- I just mean the milieu.

Of course it doesn't mean much, was just fun for this person who is looking forward to him actually being president to see.

And while this isn't something I approve of -- in fact I disapprove, but it's the way things are -- I think that it's likely to lend heft to his image, and help his chances.

So then you admit that Obama is sitting in a presidential setting, but that he himself isnt presidential, YET.
And would I look presidential if it was me in those pics instead of Obama, or can only certain people look presidential?

What does 'looking presidential' have to do with being a good president?

FDR was able to manipulate the public perception to minimize focus on his polio, but in the end 'looking presidential ' didn't make him a good president.

In fact he was horrible.

8 years of socialism didn't pull us out of the Great Depression.

So Obama is photogenic, so what?

Give him a job in Hollywood acting like a president.

So its about image, not substance? Isn't that what alot of us have been saying?

I find it amusing that the left has been hunting desperately for someone with credibility, more specifically military or commander in chief credibility. There was I think Dukaikas, with the beetle bailey helmet riding on a tank, now that was funny, then Gore that was a Vietnam vet, a photographer even! Then the real deal, Kerry, that drove his boat into Boston and delivered the lame salute, that was even more pathetic. Now it is Obama trying to prove he has credibility, with full circus support by the mainstream press covering every minute. I find all of this so transparent.

I see foreign leaders that do not love us - all licking their chops over the prospects of dealing with this guy.

No.

Is image completely irrelevant?

No.

Haters...

I don't know why people have their underpants in a twist over Obama going overseas. It seems like to me that for all the criticism that he has received, this is exactly what he should be encouraged to do.

Perhaps after 7+ years of a President ignoring the voice of the people, we just aren't used to the idea of it.

I think it's the right thing for him to do. If you believe that Obama's stance on Iraq is foolish, then let him see for himself and return with new perspective.

Either way, I'm fairly positive that all the republicans calling themselves conservatives while railing on the republicans for not being conservative in these threads will find something wrong with Obama's trip.

K
Of course, I'm fairly positive that nobody in these threads criticizing Obama is going to go see Iraq first hand and get their own opinion.

I can't speak for H2OMAN, and I would have to say it would take more than that statement to prove any bigotry. As I've gotten acquainted with your posts, Bill, I think you see bigotry everywhere in lots of comments that have nothing to do with it. I think you need to lighten up on the bigotry like about 90%. You seem to be obsessed with it. You can take about any statement and interpret it into something bigoted, if that is your goal in life.
