I never claimed the Bush's were "unique" in any way except they have been involved with the bin Laden family and Hitler - with many others.

I never implied exclusivity in any way; you need to learn how to read the English language, and not include your personal interpretation into them.

Obama dominates McCain among Hispanics: poll
Published: Wednesday July 2, 2008

Democrat Barack Obama has a dominant lead over Republican John McCain among Hispanic voters, despite his struggle to woo the key bloc during his presidential primary campaign, a poll found Wednesday.

A Gallup survey put Obama up 59 percent to 29 percent over his rival among registered Hispanic voters across the United States. The community will likely play a pivotal role in general election swing states like Colorado, New Mexico and Florida.

The poll was published as McCain made a three-day trip through Colombia and Mexico, designed to burnish his foreign policy credentials, which was also seen as an attempt to win favor among Hispanic voters in the United States.

The poll appears to indicate that many Hispanic voters have shifted their support to Obama from his vanquished Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, who built a Latino powerbase during the fiercely contested nominating contest.

In nationwide "Super Tuesday" primary contests in February for instance, Clinton won the Latino vote by around two-to-one over Obama, according to exit polls.

Gallup said that support for Obama was consistent across demographic groups in the Hispanic community. Only 18 percent of the survey sample identified themselves as Republicans.

McCain's hopes of attracting a strong vote from Hispanics were hampered by the failure of a comprehensive immigration reform bill in Congress last year, which he supported, despite the risk of alienating conservative Republicans.

The Arizona senator now says that vigorous border enforcement measures must be put in place before the status of millions of illegal immigrants living in America can be addressed.

The nationwide Gallup survey was conducted among 4,604 Hispanic registered voters, between March 7 and June 30, with a margin of error of plus two percentage points.

Sure, he can have this very small category. He is pandering to them by promising to give them more of my money. What is not to like?

Back when Republican's were huffing and puffing about how Obama would not get the Hispanic vote, they seemed to think this "small category" was significant.

"Sure, he can have this very small category," woiyo responds.

So Hispanic voters are a small category? Look at the map.

Yes, we will take that small category. No problem.

Kind of you to offer!

In fact, with numbers like that, I think Obama has a great shot at flipping Texas. He's not that far behind and there hasn't been much campaigning done there by either so far for the general.

In terms of national polls,

Obama's average has been ahead for three months now; he has not been behind in any of the last 20-25 polls, and tied in only one. This is not good news for McCain no matter how his supporters look to spin things.

(Just as an aside, one of my A2K buddies, from Mexico, posts rarely on the Politics thread. He did, however, warn us a month or a few ago about lumping all non-English speaking citizens as their first language from that part of the world into one like-thinking group.
We tend to put them all into one box: Hispanics /Latinos. Not so simple. There are Cuban-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Jamaican-Americans and on and on. That needs to be remembered rather then assuming that they are all "Hispanics.")

Dailykos? Give me a break.

Listen, Obama is entitled to whatever sweetheart deal he can get for himself, just like every other politician.

As far as the Latin vote, that demographic represents a small percentage of the total. Why they support democrats is beyond me since the democrats as well as the republicans are doing everything to keep them, and all low income people of every ethnic background, down economically.

Just think of who is impacted the most by high gas prices. Not the white snobs in their SUV's. No middle and low income workers. Who is impacted the most when some State Govt raises cigarette taxes? Same group.

Didn't BBB post an article where someone tracked back many Obama smears to the freerepublic site? I guess the Dems are watching that site closely these days.
