Krauthammer has a bit of information on Obama's numerous flip flops, back tracks, etc. Media manipulator, supreme. Actually, they are very willing and cooperative.

I'm sure nobody cares. Its about change, you know, whatever that is applied to, nobody knows.

If Clinton and McAuliffe end up running the party as they want to do, and think they are entitled to do, and Obama is the puppet, all will be rosey again in the party brain trust. This is about power, and if anyone thinks Clinton and McAuliffe and company still don't have visions of grandeur for themselves, you need to rethink this.

Maybe not a complete puppet, but don't believe for a minute that he may not have to cowtow to them. Don't forget these people can still pull lots of strings. How much ability they have to do this, time will tell, but I don't think they intend on retiring to the Bahamas, ci.

Right... Look at where all their influence and string-pulling got them. On the losing side. They had all the strings, and Obama, the newbie, defeated them anyway.

Now they have less influence than they've had at any time since '92. A lot less than even half a year ago, because a lot of the fealty that they could rely on depended on the perception that they were the winners, and people knew they were the go-to persons. Now, not so much anymore.

Throughout the primaries, Obama's stoically ignored their machinations -- and came out on top. No reason that he should suddenly succumb to their sway now that he's actually defeated them.

Look at where the Veep debate went; for a week or two after the last primary, all of the Clintons' players were pushing the idea for a rapid embrace of Hillary as veep, people were talking about how difficult it would be for Obama to resist and rebuff without chaos ensuing. Well, here we are a coupla weeks later and what happened? Nothing. Steady Eddie just sailed through the onslaught without burrowing a frow, and in any article about the Veepstakes now Hillary is just one name out of X. He may still choose her, but he's made clear that he wont be bullied into anything.

Sorry, your scenarios wont fly...

McCain is a maverick. Did you forget? He's hardly even a Republican, let alone a puppet. Remember, this is a guy that considered running on the ticket with John Kerry.

And if Huckabee and Romney end up running the Republican Party... Rolling Eyes (Psst, did you forget about the primary season already?)

Right, they just opted not to pull those strings during the Primary campaign. Laughing

The whole story isn't told yet, nimh. Obama is up in the polls slightly, but it is far from a lock, and the Clintonistas have the ability to gum up the works big time, to either deliver votes or not to deliver them. Obama knows this, and I don't think he trusts them or even likes them very much, but he is smart enough to know they still have considerable power in the party, to either help him win, or to make sure he loses. No telling what will be said behind the scenes, but I still don't think the Clintons are going to go away easily.

woiyo, I dont find such a meeting exciting at all. I merely reported the news. I think Bill Clinton is a sore loser who has yet to grasp the fact that Obama is the new leader of the Democratic Party. As for my HUGE HARD-ON please control your desires.
