He is definitely a sought-after presence at all the Dem campaigns happening across the country, as Soz has said. Hence the constant criss-crossing to which I referred.

We could use somebody to spark the Democrat campaigns in Texas.

With Kinky running, he and the Bell are dividing up the votes needed to unseat Perry. Result: Perry wins.

Like Bell would have stood a chance otherwise..

You could be right about that. But, Bell could have done a lot better.

Well, I can say I actually lived to see a campaign with the slogan,

"Vote for Kinky, Why the Hell Not?"

I have liked Kinky a long time. But, in my opinion, he doesn't belong in a governor's mansion.

I agree. He seemed unprepared and uninformed in the TV debate, and all his funny one-liners couldn't rescue him. I'm sure Obama wouldn't have this problem though.

That didn't take long. The focus on inexperience is expected and predictable. It will difficult for me to take seriously, though, coming from people who supported Bush in 2000.

This one made me laugh. How true it is... I feel bad for the guy because I like him. I hope he runs, but only if McCain doesn't.

Hey, they're making politcal buttons out of my topic title! (Exact!)

Seriously, I had no idea when I started this that it would look so possible in such a short time. Remember when I was composing the letter to personally convince him? Laughing I did bring up dragging Oprah into it, though.

I liked the Slate thing Blatham, thanks.

That second one is funny, McG. And I'm not surprised you like him. I would have had a hard time choosing between him and McCain maybe 3 months ago. But McCain seems to be selling out -- probably in hopes of getting the nomination. And he caved on the Military Commissions Act.

I would still have a hard time choosing between Obama and McCain. Just as I would have had a hard time choosing between Bradley and McCain in 2000 (oh, what I would give to get to go back and face that dilemma).

I remember that clearly, Soz. It was such a short time ago, and it seemed so much less likely to me.

Pretty heady stuff.

McCain will never get my vote, no matter what. Obama at least has a shot at it.

I'd be very surprised if McCain survives the primaries, edgar. I don't think he can convince enough conservatives that he would represent their interests, no matter how many fundamentalist groups he sucks up to.

Dem Bill Would Force Obama to Share Charisma
by Scott Ott

(2006-10-23) ?- Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive 2008 Democrat presidential nominee came under attack today from his own party when Democrats in the Senate introduced a bill that would force him to share his abundant charisma with his colleagues.

"Democrats never like to see an uneven distribution of the good things of life," said one senate aide who helped to write the legislation. "Sen. Obama has more than his fair share of charisma, while so many senate Democrats go without. It's not right for so much charm and personality to be in the hands of so few."

Under the terms of the measure, Sen. Obama's charisma would be redistributed "to each Democrat senator according to his need."
