G'sus, if nimh is a neophyte, I'm Scarlett O'Hara. Oh, wait. No.
Nimh has serious creds, and I resent his being denigrated - argued with, sure. Obviously he is not privy to everything, whatever everything is worth.

I read this thread as a whole parcel and try to ignore the flame stuff. I read it for information, and appreciate all who post real information..

No, sorry, that's not what I meant. I mean that at the top of the TPM home page it says "BLOG by Joshua Micah Marshall." Then he signs individual posts (diaries whatever) as "Josh Marshall." My minor point was just that he doesn't seem to ever be Josh Micah Marshall anyway, if some sort of esoteric knowledge was supposed to be on display (when there's a Micah, there's a Joshua). My major point was -- silliness! Can we move on?

Yes. Where are Hillary's tax returns?

And as coincidence would have it; that appears to be precisely what happened here.

Yeah well You really don't know ANYTHING my background in politics.
I'm content to judge you by what you post. Your opinion of Nimh, alone, is sufficient to demonstrate your obvious incoherence. You are likely the only member of A2K who thinks you're more knowledgeable than Nimh. Seriously. Boldly denouncing one of A2K's most politically aware members makes you look even more ridiculous than usual.
(No small feat, that).

While we are waiting for the release of the Clinton tax returns, there's lots of info here to mine. Lots of good ammo that is still relevant... i.e., her speeches about her health care plan to cut pharmaceutical costs while being heavily invested in and profiting personally from stocks of those same pharmaceutical companies.

Other examples are her profits from her stocks in several very large oil companies while bemoaning high gas prices with her speech audiences. One of the oil companies is a French oil giant with huge contracts in Iran. Remember Iran? The country she swore she'd have nothing to do with as president as punishment for their nuclear research and production?

I know I am more knowledgeable than nimh vis a vis American politics but I am not here to try to prove anything. For a political forum, there are damn few astute politcos here. Sorry. Again, you really don't know about my background and knowledge. But I don't care what you think, quite frankly.

And I still want to know why you think Charlie Crist has a right to try to sabotage the Democratic Party nomination process.

And what is Hillary hidng in those tax returns.

LOL did you see the look on her face when Russert started hammering on her on the tax return issue. She clearly does not want to release her rcords. Why?

Texas.

Caucuses

Obama 56
Clinton 44

It's looking more and more like Obama will officially win Texas.

Obama could pick up a net gain of three delegates, after all the dust settles.

Here's how Dem officials say that's possible:

Clinton won the popular vote, and could pick up as many as four delegates from that.

Obama appears to be winning the caucus voting on delegates, and could pick up as many as seven delegates there.

If that holds true, Obama would end up with three more Texas delegates than Clinton.

The next big primary is in PA. According to this article, many Hispanics have left Hazleton. Will this make any difference on the primary?

Hispanics Flee Pa. Town Before Crackdown

Oct 31 02:04 PM US/Eastern
By MICHAEL RUBINKAM
Associated Press Writer Write a Comment

HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) - Elvis Soto's variety store used to make money. But few customers have been walking through his door lately, and his merchandise?-calling cards, cell phones, car stereos, clothing?-is collecting dust on the shelves.
With bills mounting, Soto might have to take another job to stay afloat financially, and may even close the store.

On Wednesday, a tough, first-of-its-kind law targeting illegal immigrants goes into effect in this small hillside city in northeastern Pennsylvania. But the evidence suggests many Hispanics?-illegal or otherwise?-have already left.

That, in turn, has hobbled the city's Hispanic business district, where some shops have closed and others are struggling to stay open.

"Before, it was a nice place," said Soto, 27, who came to the United States from the Dominican Republic a decade ago. "Now, we have a war against us. I am legal but I feel the pressure also."

The ordinance, approved by City Council in September, imposes fines on landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and denies business permits to companies that give them jobs. The law empowers the city to investigate written complaints about a person's immigration status, using a federal database.

Mayor Lou Barletta, chief proponent of the new law, contends illegal immigrants have brought drugs, crime and gangs, overwhelming police and municipal budgets. He announced the crackdown in June, a month after two illegal immigrants from the Dominican Republic were charged in a fatal shooting.

At Isabel's Gifts, owner Isabel Rubio said business is so bad that she and her husband have put their house up for sale, moved into an apartment above their store and started dipping into their savings.

"I am in a lot of stress right now," said Rubio, 50, a Colombian who moved to Hazleton 24 years ago. "Every day, we hope to have a good day."

Opponents sued on Monday to block the law and a companion measure, saying they trample on the federal government's exclusive power to regulate immigration.

"These ordinances are nothing more than an officially sanctioned witch hunt," said Cesar Perales, president of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, a group representing plaintiffs in the case. They include the Hazleton Hispanic Business Association, several illegal immigrants, landlords and a restaurateur.

The mayor said he would fight all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary, saying the ordinance is "as bulletproof as we can get it."

Hispanics began settling in large numbers in Hazleton several years ago, lured from New York, Philadelphia and other cities by cheap housing, low crime and the availability of work in nearby factories and farms. The city, situated 80 miles from Philadelphia, estimates its population has increased from 23,000 to 31,000 over the past six years, with Hispanics now representing 30 percent of the population.

No one knows how many of the new arrivals came to the United States illegally, but assimilating such a large number of people, many of whom speak little English, in such a short amount of time has been difficult.

Roxxxane is stuck in a hotel room in Texas, pissed off about life as a roadie canvasser the day after a disappointing vote. She has no one to vent her frustration at so she's chosen to bless her fellow Obama supporters on A2K with her own version of the Clinton kitchen sink posture, regardless of the effect it has.

Fair enough. I have moments like those.. hell, days like those. Just the other day, in fact, Monday I think it was - I think I must have fought with every A2K poster I came across that day..

So, yeah, moving on. But thanks for all the respects, folks, appreciate it Smile

You think you know something. And you're the only one who does. If you know of boards with more "astute politicos"; why not post there instead of incessantly spamming this board with inane opinions about every tidbit you trip across? Why not just post it on your blog so that all of your fan (you) can enjoy it?

(Why am I bothering to read, let alone respond to Roxxxanne?)

No one cares about the election, only trying to prove theirs is bigger than the next guys.

Meanwhile, the Republicans are hoping we fight it out til the convention as that is the only way we would win.

Don't forget the adjectives. You need lots of adjectives before that "bitch" that you put there. Let's go alphabetically...

Abrasive, Barely tolerable, Cocky, Demented...

See here's the problem with your thinking, blatham: I've not listened to Hannity for a very long time. I've heard none of that before, in any detail. I have given it zero creedence. But yet I criticize Ms. Obama for what she said, completely distanced from any aspect of a racial issue. So it is ridiculous for you to make a general statement that the criticism of her was "about race." It may have morphed into that for some, but not for me, and I'm relatively sure it didn't for a good many other people. And until you realize the inaccuracy of your position here, you lack the integrity you constantly require of others.

The problem with my thinking is that you are insufficiently informed on the subject that we are discussing. Odd formulation.

As to your thesis that not everyone thinks the same...

I'm sufficiently informed to recognize you're wrong, and don't have the integrity to admit it.
