Well, okie, I'm not going to derail this thread any more by discussing the success or shortcomings of the Bush administration. I regret having gotten into that here.

However, I resent your use of an ad hominem. I think it should be possible to have a discussion, even about controversial topics, without resorting to insults.

Can you cite an example, oe? I will apologize if I think I went too far.

I guess I am offended by attacks upon George Bush. He is my president, and should be our president here in this country. Criticism is okay if it is based on accurate facts, if not, it is not deserved, and I will defend him.

From CNN:

Senate approves Iraq war resolution
Administration applauds vote
Friday, October 11, 2002 Posted: 12:35 PM EDT (1635 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In a major victory for the White House, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.

okie keeps forgetting to mention what the congress authorized. A little matter called "Saddam's refusal to give up WMDs." The UN weapon's inspectors were actively looking for them when Bush chased them out to start this illegal war.

Those are your words, or CNN's, are they not? Cite the words in the resolution you are talking about, imposter.

imposter, congress voted for what the resolution said, not what CNN said.

If you are going to make a claim, then back it up. That is your responsibility, not mine.

okie, I posted a CNN article. It's up to you to prove it is false with "YOUR" evidence. You don't even underestand simple logic.

Republicans criticizing Obama for having an irresponsible foreign policy. That has got to be the very acme of irony.

Congress voted on the congressional resolution, not on the CNN article, imposter. I repeat, please cite in the resolution to authorize war what you think backs up your claim.

okie, CNN made a claim. It's up to you to prove ther claim to be wrong by YOUR evidence. I won't wait to see you produce it, because you're usually all air and no substance.

This is an interesting read, given what is now known about what some people knew at the time.

President Bush quite liked the results (if you follow up c.i's CNN reference).

Quote:
The president praised the congressional action, declaring "America speaks with one voice."

"The Congress has spoken clearly to the international community and the United Nations Security Council," Bush said in a statement. "Saddam Hussein and his outlaw regime pose a grave threat to the region, the world and the United States. Inaction is not an option, disarmament is a must."

disarmament <nods>

~~~
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021007-6.html
Quote:
President Bush will answer specific questions many Americans are asking, including why this threat is unique: "While there are many dangers in the world, the threat from Iraq stands alone - because it gathers the most serious dangers of our age in one place.... By its past and present actions, by its technological capabilities, by the merciless nature of its regime, Iraq is unique."
President Bush will also make clear that the status quo is unacceptable and that the United States is prepared to lead a coalition to hold the Iraqi regime to account, saying: "The time for denying, deceiving, and delaying has come to an end. Saddam Hussein must disarm himself - or, for the sake of peace, we will lead a coalition to disarm him."
You made the claim, imposter, and posted the CNN article to back it up in regard to the authorization to go to war. I challenged you to back up your claim by citing the words in the authorization since that is what Congress voted on. I don't care about CNN, as it has nothing to do with what you claimed. For the third time, it is up to you to back up your claim by citing the parts of the authorization that you claim supports your claim. It is not up to me to prove anything. The authorization passed and the votes were counted, and the authorization is there for all to read. If you make a claim contrary to what it says, it is up to you to prove it, not me.
