Gee revel--that's a rarity on A2K. And very laudable.

This is interesting...Obama has sent US troops to the Jordan-Syria border to help protect Jordan from the civil war in Syria.

Why is he getting us involved in a civil war?

@mysteryman,
Is protecting one country from another a civil war? Maybe we should turn Kuwait back over to Iraq.

why is he risking US troops to protect Jordan from the civil war in Syria?
That war isn't our problem.

@mysteryman,
On this one issue, I agree. Why is Obama sending troops to Jordan? Why, why, why? It just doesn't make any sense when our country is struggling to survive this economic recession, and soldiers returning from Afghanistan are committing suicide.

I love it when my posts are voted down: it means the right has had a glimmer of the truth and they are shooting the messenger.

@cicerone imposter,
Israel is just part of it. Jordan is one of the more compliant states as far as America is concerned, any destabalisation would help Iran. Although if the king doesn't get his finger out pretty sharpish there may well be an uprising.

First-time claims haven't been that low since the week of Feb. 16, 2008. For the comparable week of 2011, they were 402,000. The four-week running average that flattens volatility in the weekly numbers was 364,000, a decrease of 11,500 from the previous week's revised average of 375,500.

I can understand Mr Biden laughing like that. It's impossible not too. I thought Mrs Palin was funny but Mr Ryan is on another level.

@revelette,
Factually, the Great Recession that impacted the world's economies will slow down job creation. That Romney promises to create 12-million jobs without explaining how he will manage this miracle is yet to be explained.

As I've said some time ago, the new "normal" unemployment rate will remain at the 8% level - and may even climb. When demand drops, so does jobs. That's Econ 101.

Actually, I've been told that they have revised this estimate downward. Now they only promise to create 11,856,003 jobs.

But they still do not explain how.

It has been recently recalled that when 43 was elected, one of the criteria put forth by the republicans was this was someone you could sit down with and have a beer. Well, you can't have a beer with willard. His religion forbids it and besides, someone with his abysmal level of social skills either would be unaware that there is such a thing as a beer or he would feel drinking that stuff was beneath him.

You don't say!!! I thought slowing down job creation is exactly what recessions do so you can imagine my surprise at that foolish statement.

What caused the Great Recession is what we want to know? Not that it was a recession.
